Hi All-
My primary concern is disgusting reactionary attacks upon the Second Amendment due to terrorist activity. With that in mind, Janice Rogers Brown would be an excellent choice. As a black woman, the mainstream media would be cutting their own throats with their liberal constituents if they criticize her. It's a win-win situation should she be named for the position.

I bet we would get 2 or 3 Dems, at least.Maybe, but they have to try and win elections too.

Wish I could agree. Could've turned out like CFR. At this point it still might. Look at the ruling against KFI this morning.. you never know where bad choices will lead.
I just don't understand why W would ruin what credibility he had left after the Rogers pick. Please... I don't need a flaming for expressing a thought.. I'm just wondering aloud. Strategery is one thing, but this was flat ...........well, enough from me.

Yes, Estrada is a good guy, and would be a fine appointment, as far as I know.He might not want to subject himself to the process. I fear that might be an issue for many potential candidates.

You are just upset because it is hard for you to accept that "The Base" is very conservative...not a bunch of moderates. Don't you have a bed pan to empty or something?

Yes, I mistyped. I meant to type Gonzales, but my fingers typed Estrada.

The president is getting chided for listening to the extreme right wing of the party. Is it extreme to hope that the nominee clearly support conservative values?
To: Lady Heron
As long as you agree with the Thought Police here you have every right to say anything you want. So it is no surprise you would think that. Try disagreeing with the Thought Nazis and see if you have the same opinion. This has become as monolithic a place as DU. Does the words Bushbot or RINO mean anything to you. This lynch mob has been shameful with the level of the attacks on fellow Conservatives. Free and open discussion, what a joke!

Not. The reason HM withdrew is rooted in the content of recent unearthings of previous writings/speech's (which suggests HM was not aligned with Republicans -- not then, not now). If anything, the next nominee will be as conservative as hell.

OK let's "get-r-done". Who are the RINOs whose votes we have to have on the "real conservative"? Specter, Collins, Snowe, Chaffee...
How did Roberts get confirmed?
To: All
Make no mistake: W is in a WEAKENED position because he withdrew this nomination!
{And it WILL be universally accepted that HE caved!}

Do you think the dems would moderate their nomination? They'd put the devil himself in there if he was available, and let the MSM do it's work. They know how to fight. We have lost the art.
Think Brave Heart, not Ghandi.
To: TonyInOhio
I think that Senator Rick Santorum will be a better choice. Yes we will lose one good Senator but we will gain a great Supreme Court judge, and Specter cannot say NO to him and nor did a good number of Democrats.

That just shows how little you comprehend the arguments against her. Or how little he comprehends conservatism... if he even tries.
C'mon guys. Show Gary some respect.
Even though his support for Miers may have been clouded and based on a single issue (religion) and therefore wrong in principle - what he did as a Green Beret (see his tag line) in Vietnam deserves some respect. I 'argued' with him over Miers countless times, but sheesh, disagree fine, please don't insult him or his intelligence. "Dumb" & "Green Beret" don't go together.
Maybe I'm being too kind and deferential because of 'what he was'? But I do know what the SF did 'in country' and the fact that he's here says something in itself.
FYI, The US Army Special Forces had more Medals of Honor awarded (mostly posthumously) and suffered more casualties percentage wise than any other unit in the entire U.S. military during the Vietnam War.
Okay, I'm done - continue arguing :-)
