I'm not saying Harriet Miers was involved. I'm simply saying these are stories that are going to come out, that need answers, and frankly, the White House hasn't done the homework. LOL, Harriet is no Reagan. Reagan was never afraid to say where he stood on issues. Except for being a good soldier for Bush, Harriet has done zero to indicate she is conservative. Harriet may just be a brown nose who does work for Bush to get ahead. In that regard, she could be a Souter. I really don't think she will be a Souter, but if you want to make a parallel, the Souter analogy is much closer than trying to compare her to Reagan.
Trusting any politician is your first mistake.

That White House talking point appears to be a myth.
I think she will ultimately do fine. I just really wanted a fight. I wanted a 40 year old Robert Bork to go up to the hill and do to the dummies what Ollie North did. Just kick their asses and show them for the fools they are.

She has little court experience (no surprise there) and no one has any idea how much motion experience she's had.
Bush should withdraw her, but he won't.

Then you had bettter get on the case of the Houston firm that gave us Enron. etc. There are some of who think that Congress is not the principal criminal class in the United States.
Sounds a bit to this non-lawyer like the way the Supreme Court operates, except that the Chief also oversees the federal system.
According to reports, Miers was vetted by her deputy White House counsel. How critical would you want to be about your boss?
I'm not a partisan of: A) the legal profession; B) Enron; or C) Congress. As a Texan once joked to me, "The only organized crime in Texas happens in the chambers of the Texas State Legislature, and actually [dramatic pause and Texas-style good ol' boy chuckle] it's not fair to call that organized!"
A second mistake is the assumption that constitutional law is some sanctum sanctorum. It isn't. It's a one year course in first year law school. If you have that and the Federal Courts class, and you work hard in each of them, you understand most of the big picture that goes into being a constitutional scholar.
