Ann Coulter just took apart President Bush's SCOTUS nominee on the air during her appearance on the Mike Rosen show here in Denver on 850am KOA. She called for listeners to write their senators to oppose the nomination. Wish you could have heard it!
Ann said - "Totally unqualified", called Judge Roberts "a 'dream' candidate in light of this nomination", mentioned "cronyism" over and over. Much more that I'm trying to digest. I called the station to see if they saved the audio, but no luck on that. Mike Rosen was just about speechless as Ann went on and on about why this was a lousy choice.
I agree with Ann. Huge mistake and missed opportunity.
Ann's choice, Janice Rodgers-Brown. Not enough intestinal fortitude in the White House to go with that choice.
Can't wait for Ann's column on this nomination later this week.
STUCK-ON-STUPID saying things like "Bush is stupid", in spite of the fact that he has outfoxed his opponents time after time after time.
STUCK-ON-STUPID saying things like "I don't know what she'll do.", in spite of all the evidence otherwise.
STUCK-ON-STUPID saying things like "Bush betrayed us", inspite of nominating a conservative, strict originalist AS PROMISED.
STUCK-ON-STUPID saying things like "Let's cram a flamer down the rats throats", in spite of the fact that this approach would almost certainly result in a guaranteed defeat (thanks to RINOS).
STUCK-ON-STUPID that a 25 year conservative Christian women would not help overturn Roe.
and on and on...
Excellent post, Dat...
It's sad that there will be people on this board who see what you say as Democratic trollery...
Ed
WRONG! By then you will be doing a big mea culpa, after having seen Meir's votes, confirming Bush was strategically brilliant.
You have said.
1. Ann deserves "such attacks" because "she makes them against others."
Fair enough.
2. She is emotional.
Okay, even though comparisons to Carvelle are rather sick.
3. She is "off base". Maybe I missed your post explaining why.
4. She sees herself in 30 years and is fearful and lurching out.
I don't see anything refuting that what Ann has actually stated. Are you sure you just don't like skinny people?
I hope you are indeed correct. Obviously we'll know more from the hearings.
Perhaps it will dawn on you in the years ahead to admit that you were stupid to foist false criticism on the judgement of President Bush.
At the time, a large portion of the Conservative movement and 100% of the Liberal movement were sliming Thomas when he was going through the process, I suspect this to be the case again. Now the same Conservatives who were critical of the Thomas selection want yet another.
Rush is disappointed that Republicans missed an opportunity to have a public debate on what they stand for, presumably the founding traditions of our country and the Constitution. A perfect opportunity to demonstrate that the Dems are against those things and to bring it out in the open. Make the issues clear, let the chips fall where they may.
He also pointed out that nomination of a "stealth" candidate, rather than one who is openly originalist, will be taken by the Dems as lack of confidence on the part of the Republicans, with resulting even greater aggressiveness by Dems. I agree; if you let someone perceive that you can be walked on, they will walk.
And he mentioned, as you did, that it's even possible that Bush knows that he cannot get enough rock solid votes for someone like Brown from our own team, the Republicans.
OTOH, I personally am not too convinced that Bush himself is an originalist.
"They're right wing lunatics and are no different then the fool... Mike Moore."
They are different in political affiliation and ideology... of course. But their tactics are the same. Theyre always trying to pull people down, even their friends, to sell themselves.
Ann Coulter is a self-serving leech, and she would say anything for attention. That is reality - I sorry you don't see it.
LOL!!
Clearly, Rush is a DU troll.
"I don't believe I've EVER, EVER seen so much STUCK-ON-STUPID from fellow Freepers as I've seen the past several days related to the Meirs nomination."
Great post!!! let us hope more FReepers realize it!
Sounding elitist as hell.
Was it not worth it? He IS on the bench. Sometimes you just have to fight. Bush threw in the towel and he broke his promise as far as I'm concerned. I voted for him twice, I rallied with him and I FReeped Kerry for Bushes kindly old Aunt B?
I've stood by the guy through a lot. Our borders, the capitulation to the likes of SLick Willie, John McCain and CAIR. Oh well, I'm just a useful idiot I suppose.
Education snobs can easily cross the line into becoming bossy know-it-alls.
Bozell having a love fest with skin and bones on Hannity.
Yeah! Great post! Way to use a cliche and not back up your point!
We should all follow Bush blindly! Go Lemmings for Liberty! Onward Bushbots! Back down before the fight "for the Gipper!"
Ann being elitist and calls Meirs a "Jesus Freak" on Hannity.
STUCK-ON-STUPID saying things like "I don't know what she'll do.", in spite of all the evidence otherwise.
"All the evidence" is a thin reed of conflicting philosophies, that points to a younger O'Connor more than anything else.
STUCK-ON-STUPID saying things like "Bush betrayed us", inspite of nominating a conservative, strict originalist AS PROMISED.
Words are very cheap considering that only half that thin paper trail suggests this and none of it actually supports this. I could just as easily say that Miers is a "make-it-up" liberal, and the other half of the paper trail would point in that direction.
STUCK-ON-STUPID saying things like "Let's cram a flamer down the rats throats", in spite of the fact that this approach would almost certainly result in a guaranteed defeat (thanks to RINOS).
Let's review the record. Chef Justice Roberts just sailed through with ZERO RINO defections and fully half of the 'RATs supporting him. We can't even get someone as verifiably-conservative as him now?
President Bush said that he would nominate Justices in the Thomas/Scalia mold, NOT that he would replace like with like. While I do give him the benefit of the doubt with the original Roberts-for-O'Connor pick, and give him a pass for changing that to the like-for-like Roberts-for-Rehnquist (though not Chief Justice) due to a pressing need for 9 Justices, I can't excuse him not elevating Thomas or Scalia to Chief Justice, and I have to call him out on replacing like for like in this instance.
You may be satified with replacing O'Connor with O'Connor. If so, not even Gen. Honore can help that.
Ann is sounding like a B*&^%.
Ann called herself a 'Jesus Freak'.
