Rush is disappointed that Republicans missed an opportunity to have a public debate on what they stand for, presumably the founding traditions of our country and the Constitution. A perfect opportunity to demonstrate that the Dems are against those things and to bring it out in the open. Make the issues clear, let the chips fall where they may.
He also pointed out that nomination of a "stealth" candidate, rather than one who is openly originalist, will be taken by the Dems as lack of confidence on the part of the Republicans, with resulting even greater aggressiveness by Dems. I agree; if you let someone perceive that you can be walked on, they will walk.
And he mentioned, as you did, that it's even possible that Bush knows that he cannot get enough rock solid votes for someone like Brown from our own team, the Republicans.
OTOH, I personally am not too convinced that Bush himself is an originalist.
Clearly, Rush is a DU troll.
Never fear. The pig-headedness of the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee will probably provide ample fodder for discussion.
Socialists love their soap boxes.
I didnt catch Rush today...but what we both are saying is reasonable...seems logical.
IMO some conservatives are psyching themselves out...in not thinking that you can WIN with the public on the battlefield of ideas. Theres a fine line between pragmatism...and cynicism.
I say fight....the line in the sand is the SCOTUS...it always has been for conservatives..AND...leftists too.
If we cant win with the team we have..lets get some new players. Better to find out while we are still in the game.
