Ann Coulter just took apart President Bush's SCOTUS nominee on the air during her appearance on the Mike Rosen show here in Denver on 850am KOA. She called for listeners to write their senators to oppose the nomination. Wish you could have heard it!
Ann said - "Totally unqualified", called Judge Roberts "a 'dream' candidate in light of this nomination", mentioned "cronyism" over and over. Much more that I'm trying to digest. I called the station to see if they saved the audio, but no luck on that. Mike Rosen was just about speechless as Ann went on and on about why this was a lousy choice.
I agree with Ann. Huge mistake and missed opportunity.
Ann's choice, Janice Rodgers-Brown. Not enough intestinal fortitude in the White House to go with that choice.
Can't wait for Ann's column on this nomination later this week.
The last point is no "slam dunk."
Uh, I'd bet $100 that every GOP Senator will vote for Meirs.
Go ahead, get it out of your system. Purging is good.
I can't wait till they wake up and stop supporting the republican party so we can settle back into obscurity.
/sarcasm
It has been a while since I have read a more asinine remark. Try to find your Meds today and get back to reality.
Where does Roberts stand on abortion? Does he believe the right to privacy exists in the constitution?
I think he was just joking. See my 242 for your answer.
Also, is there an acronym guide out there? I get some of the easier ones like LOL, IMHO, and ROFLMAO, but that's about it.
Yes, there is a guide somewhere. Do a search; you'll find it. Also, don't forget to look up important terms like "series", "hugh" and "vey" (as in, "vey series and hugh!"), as well as "beeber" and "stune".
Good luck, and welcome to FR.
Her opinion is irrelevant to me but I do wish someone would get her a sandwich.
Sorry, I meant 178.
Ole Arlen already has stated he will not support for elevation any of the judges that were filibustered but eventually confirmed as part of the "Gang of 14" deal. So right off the bat, that means he won't support Brown, and the best you get is a vote out of committee with no recommendation.
That alone makes Ann's point laughable. If she'd have suggested Edith Jones, Michael Luttig, or someone who did not fall into that category, she'd have a better point. But picking someone whom you know will not get support instead is just plain dumb.
Why not argue the facts rather than stoop to childish name calling? Also, do a little google on where the term Bushbot originated.
Nobody knows.
Does he believe the right to privacy exists in the constitution?
I believe he does, in the 4th amendment.
So what?
Coulter and Brett Bozelle going to be on with Hannity today on radio. Not sure what time yet.....
You saying Laura Bush is fat?
Thank you as well for a straight answer. I feel like I have to verbally walk on eggshells because I don't have a long record. I appreciate your kindness.
Great!
Maybe Ann is so hungry she thinks her foot is food.
That would be great BUT the partial birth abortion ban case is coming up this session and we can't have a nominee bogged down in a Senate fight and allowing OConnor to vote on this important case. That's one of my theories.
I just saw her friend interviewed of Fox News. She said "In Texas, we were all LBJ Democrats," then moved to the GOP as the Democrats got more liberal.
So...they were LBJ Democrats.
I remember LBJ, and he wasn't a Reagan Conservative by any means.
They also said that President Bush said "I never once talked with Harriet about abortion."
I am going to fight this horrible appointment tooth and nail, calling all my Conservative Pro-Life friends and urging them to call Conservative Senators...we deserved a heavyweight Constitutionalist and we got a lawyer, the type of which can be found in thousands of law firms across the country.
A Freeper said earlier "If another GOP president were looking for a Supreme Court Justice, would people have settled on Harriet Miers as the best choice?"
And, of course, the answer is NO!
It doesn't matter that she is a Christian, what matters is she's not one of the country's major Constitutional jurists...she's just President Bush's friend and ex-lawyer.
The Conservatives have been stabbed in the back by this choice.
"Read my lips, more Scalia and Thomas..."
NOT!
