From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

Thanks for the ingo. The news media disgusts me (and that includes Fox) for ignoring this story.

actually, that is an important fact - how big was this bomb? a pipebomb is alot different then a suicide vest filled with C4.

I wouldn't call that a fact yet. This guy probably knows what he is talking about, but sound can do funny things. He was at the game. He had to leave his car there as it was about 100 yards from where he believes the blast was.

As an aside, I've heard that the second device was detonated. When they do this they use extra explosives to make sure the job gets done completely. This may be what he heard, but it's not really adding up like that as he said that police left the sidelines just after the explosion he heard. Still really fuzzy.

London Times on Bali Bomber and JI--Its top bombmaker, Azahari bin Husin, who completed a doctorate at Reading University in the 1990s and is known in his native Malaysia as “Demolition Man”, is suspected of involvement in the latest bombings.

The above quote is from the London time, referencing the suspected "mastermind of the Bali attack Saturday night (Bali time). Jolly ole' England is beginning to clean itself up, so should the rest of the non-Mulim countries.

Tularemia. Only case I have ever seen. In Arkansas. In practice for 20 years. Have seen quite a few cases of RMSF. Diagnosed with febrile agglutin tests. His were very high according to the infectious dz. doctor. She said his type of illness only occurred in about 15% of cases. It did take about 5 days to make the diagnosis bacause he presented with acute cholecystitis. But he kept running fever so after thinking what else could it be I ran the tests. I am glad I did. I wasn't expecting Tularemia. I was think maybe RMSF and the GB was just a conincidence.

Last I heard, they were looking for two more suspects, they blew up the second bomb, have bomb dogs all over campus going through the buildings that were open, and they couldn't tell if the person blown up was a man or woman.

Doesn't sound like kids playing with pipe bombs!

Well, given the thread title, I think I'll reserve comment on that issue.

It was really great the way everyone left the stadium after they made the announcement we couldn't go on the south oval and anywhere between Lindsey and the Library. People took it all in stride as everyone was walking around with a cell phone stuck in their ear. Took me six tries to get out as the circuits were all busy.

Gosh. "Sometimes a kid with pipe bombs is just a kid with pipe bombs." I can't dispute your premise that, given a choice of explanations, choose the simplest and most obvious. Now I may be a little isolated, but 1) I haven't seen many 'kids' running around playing with pipe bombs, and 2)where I've heard that it occurs, it's usually a homicide bombing. Oh, well...

Regardless of what anyone tells you, if someone wants suicide all it takes is a rope and a tree or a bullet and a "borrowed" gun. Making a pipe bomb requires PREMEDITATED MURDER as your intention.

The second device really takes the lone suicide off the board.

that's a good point, suicide bombers work alone, they usually don't have some 2nd "guide person" without a bomb working along side them. these simply could have been two people near the location where it went off, who ran like hell when it happened. and they can't run into the stadium, I imagine the entrance/exits are gated and have security.

Unlikely anything important. Terrorist would have done more damage.

It's probably just some drunk freshman doing stupid crap. Like this one time when I was in college the started a fire because they thought it would be neat to put a rug in a microwave.
