The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
Yes, thank you for the information.
See #646 and #660 if you haven't already.
There were very few details on the TV tonight but the radio has had more from the sports talk shows that are ongoing and then I learned more at my son's fraternity and also from him when he was called into the office.
When I left campus, there was a helicopter just entering the airspace over campus.
Thank you so much for REAL information!
So glad you're all ok.
What did you expect him to say? It was a banana? That was a stupid comment.
>>>She said since she was Middle Eastern she felt safe in saying they fit the profile. She made a point of saying they were much darker skinned then the Iranian people and when she heard the bomb blast, she was convinced at the time it was a suicide bomb and these two were part of what was happening. <<<
I'll take this eyewitness report over anything Boren or MSM are saying.
This is shocking and frightening.
I'm so glad you and your son are O.K.
I don't think this was a pipe bomb -- the explosion was huge. Everyone jumped around us and first thing everyone thought was that it was a bomb but we couldn't get any info until the 4th quarter when people started calling people in the stands as it scrolled across the bottom of the screen.
There was pretty much of a news blackout until the game was almost over. You could barely get a cell phone call out as the circuits were all busy.
Thanks. I did read them and it's sounding much more dangerous now.
That's the first I've heard that this was a huge explosion.
FReepers are everywhere.
Don't most Muslims in America "endanger the American people, or the existence of democracy"?
I watched the game and shortly after the second half started a lot of seats on the West side became empty.
I wonder if this was the cell phone crowd getting a tip to scram, just in case.
Fortunately, people at the stadium kept their heads and didn't start a panic. Kudos to the the fans!
Prayers PhiKapMom.Thank you for the info.
Overheard on an American college campus. Does my burqa make me look fatwa?
I wonder. What a wierd night.
When she said that, I knew something was amiss and then when I couldn't find my son and found out he had been called in to unlock his office and bomb sniffing dogs were around, I knew she was probably right. They have been trying not to panic anyone and everyone left the stadium after the game in an orderly fashion. That's why I think they have lowkeyed it.
That is one game I am not going to forget!
Please give graphic warning before posting something like that. I have a daughter looking over my shoulder and that was toooooo much. Thanks for understanding.
