From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

There is something in the air for the Government to have thought about issuing biochemical supplies to Seattle this month.

When did that happen? Do you have a link?

We'll know for sure when they surpress the nationality and religion of the bomber.

That's why it's important for feet-on-the-ground information to come out.

Typical college kids don't attempt to murder other students across campus with bombs.

Amen! I attended OU 1946 - 1950. Most of our engineering students were WW2 vets, and didn't spend much time thinking up dirty tricks.

The worst thing I remember in that era is some idiot with too much time on his hands started panty raids on women's dorms. Got a lot of publicity at the time.

I have worried that there would be attacks on college football games, but didn't dream of it happening at OU.

One killed in explosion near OU stadium

Star-Telegram

NORMAN, Okla. — At least one person was killed when an explosive device went off west of Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium on Saturday night during the Oklahoma-Kansas State football game, according to a University of Oklahoma police spokesman.

Sgt. Gary Robinson said he could not say whether officials believed any act of terrorism was indicated.

"I have no information on whether it is or isn’t," Robinson said.

"Right now we do know there was a device that exploded. We don’t know what the device is, what the make of the device is, what compound was used. We do know we have at least one fatality. We don’t know the gender of the person.

"We have the area sectioned off, we are checking to make sure there are no other devices in the area or injuries or (other) fatalities."

The explosion occured at approximately 7:20 p.m. midway through the second quarter of the game in the area west of the press box and east of the Van Vleet Oval, outside of the university's botany-microbiology building.

Robinson said a hazardous device unit was searching a cordoned off area that also includes the journalism and architecture buildings. Bomb-sniffing dogs were observed checking the area just outside the east gates of the stadium.

Robinson said the crowd would be forced to exit the east side of the stadium after the game.

agree, there is certainly a good chance they will turn this into a suicide if they can. 2 devices being reported might be buried later, even though it is obvious police cannot find and detonate a second device which is later found to haev never existed.

That is very odd.
What is the likelyhood of that particular bacteria alone showing up high enough to be detected, and no others?

You're right. The media's silence suggests something fishy.

Ive read that in the case of suicide bombers they generally want to be identified and often hold their hands clear of their bodies so fingerprints will identify them.

Nothing to be worked up over.

Here's what the CDC says about the bacteria that tripped the censor:

"What is Tularemia?

Tularemia is a potentially serious illness that occurs naturally in the United States. It is caused by the bacterium Francisella tularensis found in animals (especially rodents, rabbits, and hares)."

Who's Kevin Bacon? The only reason I know Sutherland is because he does espionage type movies. I would say this is NOT a usual role for Sutherland...which is why I did a google on him.

Our local news in Wichita hardly said anything, just "explosion heard" and had some guy at the game interviewed "thought it was thunder, but later on the rumors went flying around"

Thanks for the report.

I think we'll learn more about this event from FReepers before we get the truth from MSM.

Let us know if you see FBI or ATF vans in the area.

So, if people are not forewarned of a hurricane or other hazard ahead of time, it's not ok, etc., etc. However, if more than one bomb goes off around a college football night/day game, this is only a traffic issue.

Sure thing, Einstein.

"Pres. Boren announced via the PA system at game's end that these precautions were being taken because of "an individual's suicide which is under investigation"."

What a crock of shit. Do they think we are idiots?

The Terrorists are called Suicide Bombers by the media. They are not committing an individual suicide, they are committing terrorist attacks.
