The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

They find good excuse to riot anyway
Oh, I get it. It wasn't a "suicide bomber". It was an "individual suicide by two explosive devices". Nice to see the authorities cleared that up for everyone.
No more odd than suicide by plane crash and I'm refering to the idiot kid in Tampa who stole a Cessna and crashed it into a building.
Is Kevin Bacon involved in this somewhere?
Ping
Well, early reports can be wrong. It's hard to tell. However, the story has changed. Either they are trying to keep panic down, or someone reported something that wasn't so.
Ahmed Huber.

I agree. This person sure sounds like they really wanted to take others with him/her.
"About 9 p.m. a police bomb squad detonated explosives found at the site of the blast."
So the suicide guy had more undetonated bombs on him? Doesn't pass the sniff test."
Meaning it wasn't a cult suicide.

One killed in explosion near OU stadium
Star-Telegram
NORMAN, Okla. At least one person was killed when an explosive device went off west of Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium on Saturday night during the Oklahoma-Kansas State football game, according to a University of Oklahoma police spokesman.
Sgt. Gary Robinson said he could not say whether officials believed any act of terrorism was indicated.
"I have no information on whether it is or isnt," Robinson said.
"Right now we do know there was a device that exploded. We dont know what the device is, what the make of the device is, what compound was used. We do know we have at least one fatality. We dont know the gender of the person.
"We have the area sectioned off, we are checking to make sure there are no other devices in the area or injuries or (other) fatalities."
The explosion occured at approximately 7:20 p.m. midway through the second quarter of the game in the area west of the press box and east of the Van Vleet Oval, outside of the university's botany-microbiology building.
Robinson said a hazardous device unit was searching a cordoned off area that also includes the journalism and architecture buildings. Bomb-sniffing dogs were observed checking the area just outside the east gates of the stadium.
Robinson said the crowd would be forced to exit the east side of the stadium after the game.
