The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

Also I am sure that during some of the first AP articles somewhere posted before 10:30 PT last night as that is when I went to bed, they said a secondary device was exploded otherwise I wouldn't have made much out of the AOL news this morning.
"A pretty big bomb not in direct contact with the ground (such as around someone's waist) won't make a hole --- the blast takes the path of least resistence --- which is up and out. MOST TELLING, however, is the LACK OF SHRAPNEL. If this guy planned on killing a bunch of people, he'd have taped nails to the outside of the bomb."
Right. He may have been hauling some stuff, some explosive chemical not put in a bomb. Maybe later-- maybe not ever intended for a bomb.
This is the funny part, though. There's still this media blackout problem. Heh. And it may have been an accident all along anyway.
No conclusion has been reached on the reason for his kidnapping/murder because the suspects have not been found.
Considering that PhiKapMom heard the OK Home Security Director say this a "large investigation" with "puzzle pieces", I won't put much faith in CNN at this point.
That is another of many possibilities.
We had a thread on the correct identity of BTK around 12 hours before the name was released on CNN, FNC, etc.

I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH A MEMBER OF THE FRATERNITY JOEL HINRICHS WAS IN!!
Looks like I may have jumped to the conclusion too quick as to the suicide bomber at OU last night, I tracked down which Frat he was in and tracked down the head of that Frat at OU and gave him a call and asked him if Joel was a Muslim convert. He said no he was definately not, not at all. So looks like we jumped to a conclusion. But we should all never be too quick to accept everything we hear from the media, we have to stay vigilant and on top of these things!
I agree....we also need to wait for more info on this guy's connections with Muslim organizations in the area.

And I got in trouble around here this morning when I said -
"FOX is stuck on last night's news. Maybe thay'll catch up by tomorrow."
At the most, he may be a Muslim convert who tried to do something. But, it is quite unlikely this was some major plot.
