From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

We were watching the game on TV in Mustang. Half way through the second quarter the cable goes out, both the tv and the internet, so we switched on the radio. Never heard a mention of the bomb until after the game was over. Not on the radio, and not on the tv which came back on in time for the second half. Our phone calls to Cox Cable indicated it was a widespread outage. Curious timing since it appears the cable, not just the game channel, went out at the approximate time of the explosion.

I just spoke with an aunt of mine who lives in Tulsa. She and her husband were at the game tonight and they saw the area marked with police tape. She spoke with one of the cops and he stated that there were "multiple devices" in the cordoned area. The cops on the scene think that the bomber was trying to attach the bombs to the parked buses when a bomb detonated before he could do so.

That would be a VERY powerful bomb indeed!!!

Indeed. And this was 100 yards away. You'd think there would be some accounts of visible damage to the biology building it happened right next to.

I have read the whole thread, and it does creep me out a little. Could've been a botched AQ deal, could've been a lone Islamee wack job, coulda been a Tim Mc Veigh type, who knows. We'll see, but the possibilities are creepy.

Understanding the reasons that the perp blew himself up is not necessary. Even if your "lone nut" theory pans out, there was still a bomb and it's still a TERRORIST act. It deserves some coverage on lame-stream media as well as FR.

>>OS, I will be looking forward to your report for some hard facts on damage assessments. Those are the facts I'm interested in so I determine how large this blast actually was. Could I trouble you to ping me to any info you post?<<

Ditto on the above for myself and those I have Pinged on this posting.

They are the core of a highly active, attentive P.R.O.P* {Phony Religion Of Peace} pinglist I maintain.

They look closely at events, and want real answers, not coverup, irresponsible speculation and rampant B.S.

And this was 100 yards away.

Actually more than that! 100 yards (+/-) to the stadium, then around the perimeter to the other side of the "horseshoe" - and this through the intervening structure of the Aspe Avenue Parking Facility!!

"With the apparent news blackout, all that left is to look at the history of 'suicide bombers'...So one might ask, what is the history of a suicide bomber going to the trouble of buying or making a bomb so he can blow himself up in the middle of a parking lot, next to a staduim full of thousands of people??? Is there a lot of history on this type of incident??? No???"

Did it ever cross your mind that maybe the bomber was on his way to blow up the crowd of people and prematurely detonated the bomb? Happens all the time in Isreal and Iraq.

From the blog link you posted:

"Not only is it propaganda, but it’s quickly becoming propaganda with a purpose."

The poster is speaking of the OU Pres, but it's a keeper. Not that propaganda doesn't have a purpose by definition, but, still, it's good.

The blogger also mentions being able to feel the explosion 1 mile away at his house, also in his post.

its not the events I am comparing - its the willingness to accept a version of the facts. just as on 9-11, if we had only had one plane, it would have been nuts to accept that it was an accident - its just as crazy to believe at this point that some dude committed suicide by pipe bomb outside a stadium with 84K people in it.
