The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
They sweep Ohio Stadium before EVERY game....
Well, Richard Gere said it first. We need to hug them more. Then they won't be so darned mad.
For one thing, because one of the Muslim nutcases - I don't remember if it was Osama or Zarkawi - in a recent tape, talked about hitting the "American heartland" and said that no American was safe anywhere.
It's not a parking lot, but a street that loops around in front of the stadium.
I think the media is quiet because they have no further information and what information they do have they are not reporting right now. It is not about the President IMHO -- not here in Oklahoma where the media for the most part is very favorable to him.
"Reporters are trying to find answers and getting nowhere."
Really? What reporters are you talking about? Can you name any?
I usually use a herd of cats myself when I Speep...

Well, I'm reserving judgement, too. There just doesn't seem enough to go on. Certainly terrorism is possible. But so is a depressed student who likes to play with explosives.
Remember all the crazy stuff to come out of New Orleans and all the folks getting upset about the rapes and the shootings that never happened? I don't want to jump on anything until we know.
>>Who needs two bombs to commit suicide?<<
"Rosie O'Donnell?"
Or Michael Moore-on?
A.A.C.
That's usually my reply to those snooty big city friends of mine. They still think I'm a hick. I still think they're stupid for spending 2 hours/day in traffic, especially after watching the evacuation of Houston.
"...a no0b needs to be a little more soft spoken with people, especially when they have been here since 98."
I don't know. It all depends on what an idiot the senior FReeper is. Been plenty of times a noobie told me off and I needed it.
Trolls on the other hand, the worst ones are the ones who managed to keep their screen names. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm a troll. I try not to be. =]
I just read a book called the Orientalist which was non-fiction. The person about whom the book was about traveled in what is now Iran and was offered a boy for the night as a gesture of his host's hospitality. Of course, this was before fundamentalism which in part was a reaction to these kind of cultural practices.
Let us know what you find out in your search.
I have rarely seen a story so effectively controlled by law enforcement officials. They are doing quite a job, and I want to know why.
It was a joke in response to the "grilling accident" comment. The guy was apparently by the buses, and this is not the place that one normally has a tailgate party. Parked between a bunch of diesel buses, most of which usually keep their motors running a good part of the time?
Still waiting to find out whether the "individual suicide by explosion" victim is a muslim...
Maybe they got burned reporting all the mis-information in New Orleans. Or maybe there is more info but they are keeping quiet to aid the investigation. If it is a terrorism, islamic or domestic, maybe there is an accomplice out there they don't want to spook.
