The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
This was no pipe bomb! It was way too loud for that and a pipe bomb blast would not have made the stadium shudder. We sit in Row 71. The people behind us on Row 72 leaning against the back wall said they felt it shake behind them and then we all decided it was our imagination. Guess it wasn't.
Yes, he is--Bush friend. I didn't know about those endorsements, but that's good news. I think he and Molly have been in a win-win situation with the University--at least, it seems so, from this distance.
I haven't been up in 2-3 years, but they come here for a "do" once or twice a year with our huge OU Club (bigger'n Dallas's, I must add).
it's kinda creepy around the grad student apartments...hehe. when i go to do my laundry in the washing building, there are a dozen women in the full black sheets.
They turn dead silent while I am in there. even the kids..creepy...
The guys are creepy too, they drive brand new cars, sit outside in those extra long t-shirts, smoking and drinking tea and they never go to class. They look at you, but never speak. They just look at you, even if you say "hi" or what not.
I pass then every day. Some of the "graduate students" from the middle east are easily in their 40's.
as for the heads up, this might be connected, or just a wierd coincidence. They have been busting scalpers, etc. in the parking lots. I don't know why they need suit guys to do it, but maybe its less obvious.....still, it is strange.
and the London bombs too.
60%, eh.
ABCNews.com is calling it "apparent suicide bomb" in their headline posted 15 minutes ago. I think that is the AP headline.
While Boren may not be the typical D.C. DUmocrat, he sits on the wrong side along with terrorist enablers like Kerry, Kennedy and the Clintons.
This is a bandwidth issue.
It was only PARTLY a bandwidth issue, and it sure was not a planned shutdown.
The truth is much simpler. (it always is).
The antenna mast on the WTC held a majority of cells that could reach the downtown area. Being the highest place, it was the obvious place, and lots of companies rented space on that mast. It was the first building hit, and the aircraft cut all the cables to the antenna even before the building fell.
well if according to reports if there were additional parties involved and this was a premature detonation... he was not able to deliver the additional bomb to his fellow bomber... pure speculation on my part, but if this was a sucide bomber it seems like a failed attempt.

Yes. You recalled that correctly.
If I recall correctly, it was a Saturday football game, possibly in Colorado.
This was a prescription for disaster. They announce before every game what exits can be used in an emergency. I told my daughter we would be stuck as we sit next to the top row of the bottom part of the stadium and it takes 10 minutes to get out after the game.
By people around us not knowing what had happened until the 4th quarter, there was no panic. People left normally even when told we couldn't walk across the South Oval and that they had moved the buses to the corner of the stadium.
One thing is for sure -- I won't be forgetting this game anytime soon.
You do remember correctly. Air Force Academy
Air Force Academy.

I keep reading how there was "not much smoke" which means an efficient mixture, without much that detonated which was not consumed, or that what did not go off was simply blown clear.
Pipe bombs tend to use black powder, which generates a lot of smoke, so the guy who made the bomb (assuming gender, here) either 'got lucky', had commercial explosives, or was skilled at making homegrown explosives.
Not your average prank, and probably not just someone who was out to do themselves in.
Ditto Milford.
