The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
Before the Iowa State game today I was 100% convinced that the Huskers couldn't possibly beat TT. I'm not so sure now that NU can actually complete a pass now and then.
Basketball on the other hand...I'm a Bobby Knight fan from WAY back!!!
Apparently I paid more attention in history class than most on FR. Maybe watching "Blackhawk Down" when I heard the news (and some on FR dismissing this event as nothing) has the blood pressure up a bit, who knows.
Kerry was a candidate not a member of the MSM.
Can't you read facts from Freepers in attendance? Mom is a Freeper who's word is trusted.
With all due respect.....You sure are opinionated and mouthy for a newby.
Nam Vet
Yup....If you only hear what was the first part of a loud explosion...you might be DEAD!
You can say that again!
You know where the stadium is? Cross is directly across and to the NE from the bookstore. I don't understand why they used the words traffic circle either because there is no traffic circle unless they mean the street that comes in West of the Gaylord Jounalism School next to the South Oval and goes around in front of Price Business and then loops around in front of Cross and the Stadium and goes back to Lindsey on the east side of Gaylord Hall.
I know of no traffic circle just a loop and I walk by Cross at every home game.
Even if there is a wave of bombings some day, I'm not going to stop going to games. I'm just going to arrive and depart at odd times. It's sort of an Austin Powers thing...be an international man of mystery who slips quietly into baseball games when there's one out in the top of the 2nd inning.
Drudge is asleep until Sunday night dontyouknow.
Kerry's statements were repeated by the MSM by their own columnists. He was not the originator of the argument.
If you persist in attempting to defend the indefensible, such as the MSM not pinning the absence of Osama's capture on Bush, I'll leave you to the fantasy. Those of us that have paid attention the last four years know otherwise.
"Mom is a Freeper who's word is trusted."
Count me in on that...Mom is trustworthy.
Well, it would say to me there is even more reason to stop it at the site where it initiates. Of course, I'm preaching to the choir, here. And yes, I think they were asked to keep a lid on it until to stop panic and to give authorities time to act.
Bump.
Beta particles hitting computers are a real problem.
Computers crash alot more often than people realize -- especially when 80,000 people are in a football stadium when a bomb goes off.
An EMP would have be alot more interesting, and there are folks who worry about those.
Let's just say if I post too much, I might get analysed by folks in the EU, Far East, and other parts of the world.
Some of these folks might even be in Libya, Iran, Syria, and other countries that are soooo friendly to the US...
I am hearing u loud and clear, because my son said his phone and NONE of his friends cell phones had been working right when he finally called me back an hour or so later. Might have been the same game (don't follow the games these days). He was at a TCU game in FW, Tx.
Just got this in a FReepmail. This keeps moving further and further from some depressed kid with a pipebomb.
All suicide bombers should be assisted as much as possible before the act. A double-tap .45 to the cranium should be sufficient. The FedGov should issue license and let's get on with it already.
There is nothing here yet to make me believe it's a failed terrorist attack .That's ALL I'k saying here. . Semms like you are dying for it to be so .There is a lot of conflicting and unsubstantiated stories so far. Wait untill morning to make a judgement on this.
OPINION: My first reaction was a "work accident" too, but there are too few details to justify my speculation.
I've never been to a major college game anywhere but Nebraska...but the parts of Lincoln near the campus are SO crowded after a game for HOURS. They could do serious damage at will.
