Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco lashed out at FEMA on Tuesday, complaining the agency is moving too slowly in recovering the bodies of those killed by Hurricane Katrina.
The dead "deserve more respect than they have received," she said at state police headquarters in Baton Rouge.
She said that the Federal Emergency Management Agency still has not signed a contract with the company hired to handle the removal of the bodies, Houston-based Kenyon International Emergency Services.
Calls to a FEMA spokesman in New Orleans and the Homeland Security Department in Washington were not immediately returned.

Is it chutzpah if the person doesn't have any idea what she's saying? Like a parrot mimicing speech or a tourettes patient spouting out words?

If it's taking too long.... then exactly what in the hell is she doing to improve the situation?!? She's the governor(ess), for crying out loud. Dammit! I am sick of this utter vacuum of responsibility in New Orleans. I have not seen one iota of leadership coming out of 'Greyhound' Ray Nagin or Blanco duBois ("I've always relied on the kindness of strangers").

YOU SAID..."Idioto"
I'm sure she is...but now the political sharpies in the DNC are directing her efforts....and they are NOT idiots by any means.
They are telling her that the best defense is a good offense.
If nobody on the pub side counters this horse$hit, then guess what....some of it sticks.

I wonder what she thinks the responsibilities of a state governor encompass?
Besides accepting bribes.

What she is REALLY saying is:
"We want the body count to go up FASTER so we can use it politically."
She is ACTAUALLY upset that the body count is not higher...remember this idiots were screaming about 10,000 deaths...they are going to look even MORE the fools that they are.
I'm glad Gov Pataki didnt say that 4 years ago. Why is this lib hag in office???? Take Nagin with ya.

I agree that it's taking too long. A small crew could have been collecting bodies to place in a ref.truck while the majority did rescue and recovery. Then no one would have complained. FEMA or whomever could have stated:the process has begun. Blanco's a stupid be-otch but I agree with her on this one.

So recovery of the bodies is an enumerated power of the federal government?

The length of time in recovery is being hindered because Alleged "Governor" Blanco has refused to grant the military assisting in rescue and recovery the ability to enter devastated homes to recover bodies. They can only visually inspect the premise and move on.

The responsibilities were to be left to others. But they weren't. She doesn't actually have to know how to handle the emergency, she just has to have somebody that does. But she doesn't. She probably did, but they told her things she didn't want to hear. So they were fired. By the Governor. That would be Her. She can do that.
