Hurricane Ophelia continues to churn off the off the coast of the Carolinas with a track that has confounded computer models and meteorologists for days. Hurricane watches are issued for much of the SC and NC coastline. Northern GA and southern VA coastal areas are currently within the three day cone of uncertainty. Check local NWS service for updates.

As for people "busting" their "butts". What was done last year was appreciated. That still does not change the fact all I did was request what is helpful.
I dont know that I can do better, but I can post the silly graphic and will do it myself and wont ask for it to be done from here on out.
We had one that wandered around like that several years back off Southport. It finally did a loop and came back straight into us through Wilmington. Don't remember the name, though.

The second, Jeanne, finished the job. We lost everything we owned. Still going at it with State Farm. No settlement yet. They are saying our personal possesions cannot be claimed because we do not have receipts to prove we purchased them. I dont really care for the stuff I lost, it was just stuff. But my wife lost all her things, all the things that weer handed down from her mother and such. Her antiques, clothes.. everything.
They made us get all the destroyed stuff out of what was left of the house, and now a year later want to see proof of them. All we have is pictures.
Well that is reassuring:') State Farm has paid fast for us. We had 4 cars damaged during a hail storm and roof damage. Of course they raised our policy but....
They do seem to get back to the original path a lot, don't they?
Well.. we just waited them out. Had to really. They were only going to give us $15,000 initially. I just kept asking for different adjustors. After 6 we finally got the payout on the policy. It is still not enough to repair the house. It has to be bulldozed according to the county. We were hoping to get about 50K for personal possesions and put that together with the payout to fix the house. But it looks like we will get stuck on that. With them saying we have to have receipts... who in the world has receipts for a lifetime of posessions?
We are middle class. Any middle class family has 50K worth of possesions. We were insured for 100k on the possesions.

I grew up on the coast--never experienced a hurricane. I move over 100 miles inland, and bam-bam-bam, Fran, Floyd & Isabel...I think I've made my hurricane quota. Fran was the worst of the 3 around here, but we lived in an apartment at the time, Floyd wasn't all that bad wind-wise, but just the 60-70mph gusts we got here with Isabel was enough to put me off hurricanes forever. Sitting helplessly in your own home listening to the wind and your house make noises you never knew it could make and calculating the relative height of the trees in your backyard vs. their distance from your house gives me the heebie-jeebies.
I can not possibly understand what you are dealing with and will not make any comments to attempt to do so.

I'll second that. It's the last time I will ever be unprepared for a hurricane. Three days after Fran, I flew to New Orleans for a conference. Took a shower at RTP airport before boarding the flight.
Moved to FL before Floyd.
