A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

#165 is outstanding, Dolly, and it *had* to have taken you a very, very long time to gather and put together the photos that tell the horrifying story of the events of 9/11 as they unfolded.
An amazing job as we all have come to expect from you, Miss DollyCali. Thank you seems hardly enough, but thank you (more than you know) for this post.
I have spent 4 hours trying to figure out why the table closed at the bottom. any of you HTML wizards figure it out?
To answer your question about the table cutting off at the end, it is hard to tell exactly, because what you put *in* the posting form isn't always exactly what gets posted - John has it fixed so that *it* sometimes tries to interpret what you intended by closing tags where you may not have meant them. But from what I can see, the two tables around that very last picture should have been turned off immediately after the img src command, and then the stars bar would have been on the white background like everything else.

"When God's love comes into our thoughts, our feelings of sorrow and dread flee. Our mourning is turned into dancing, our garments of sackcloth and sorrow are stripped away and we are girded with gladness. We can rise to greet the day with shouts of ringing praise for His mercy, guidance, and protection. We rejoice in His holy name (30:11-12). No matter our circumstances, let's sing to the Lord once again! David Roper
Yes, Your Honor, let us always raise our voices, praising God, remembering His will is for our soul to be free - and let us keep our will in proper alignment.
As we sing His praises, it is His desire to inhabit them!!
He wants us to make joyful! noises and dance before Him!
The idea that sitting rigid and somber is the *only* way to show "respect,"
has denied many the kind of joy in Him described by David.
Allow His full love to every day flow through and cleanse you, and fill you with His wonder!

May my simple "Thank You" convey deeper meaning...

just back from church & dog walk.. leaving shortly for corn roast/BBQ.. lovely day here in Ohio.
Love your tables Mrs. N & Luv!!! the Black background was really nice.. I had thought about it but have gotten rather lazy & it is so easy to use Billie's "ruff" one & I already had the graphic "platform" ready for it.
Dan, thanks for your contributions of Faithmouse here this weekend...there is no shortage of fodder for political cartoonists at this point & those like you, with a faith undergird really hit the target for most of us here.
Thanks for all your comments.. I can't imagine how much fun these types of posts will be if I ever do them WELL IN ADVANCE & have my new computer set up & with a faster connection.
Jonny.. pinging you to post 165....

How many lost? How many died?
Across the land America cried.
America mourned her own that day,
So stunned that we could only pray.
We could not work or eat or sleep
The pain and anguish cut too deep.
What now? we asked our President.
Does this mean war, was our lament.
Someday the history books will say,
America was attacked one day.
September 11, Two Thousand One.
The day this foulest deed was done.
And sons and daughters everywhere
Offered up this fervent prayer.
God, grant to us swift recompense
And give us back our innocence.
