FOX News (Click here for MUST SEE Video) ^ | Brit Hume and Major Garrett

Just heard on FOX that Blanco refused to allow supplies to be brought to the stadium, "Because they wanted all those people to leave, and they didn't want to create a magnet to bring others there, by bringing in food and water!"""

Another thing, has anybody mentioned yet how much influence organized crime has had in New Orleans and Louisinana for the past 50 years. The guv may have been getting HER orders from someone not even in the real gov't.

Rhetorical question, since the Democrat leadership in Louisiana IS organized crime. And the whole party is a national crime syndicate.

I don't know anything about Blanco's relatives being on the police force. I know her brother runs Acadian Ambulance. Errol Babineaux I think is his name. Not sure I spelled it correctly. I remember that because when she was Lt. Governor he would fly her to places and bill the state.

I wonder if they used any of these buses at all to get anyone out of the city.

RTA buses would be used for evacuation -
But plan still falls far short of needs
Times-Picayune, The (New Orleans, LA)

New Orleans has plans to deploy scores of buses from the Regional Transit Authority to evacuate people without transportation if Hurricane Dennis threatens the city, City Hall said on Thursday.

Such an effort would be both unprecedented and, apparently, far short of the city's needs.

At the same time, it appears emergency planners' efforts to establish church-led private transportation networks have fallen flat.

Surveys of the city's largest churches and of the Archdiocese of New Orleans indicated Thursday that most have no plans to gather church members or others and move them out of town in church vans or buses.

But the Archdiocese of New Orleans said it would evacuate the residents of its nursing homes and other health facilities.

Emergency planners may announce today whether they will trigger the RTA evacuation. That will depend on the course and location of Dennis, said Tami Frazier, spokeswoman for Mayor Ray Nagin.

The city assumes residents will look first to family and friends for rides out of the city, she said.

If events warrant evacuation, the Regional Transit Authority will contribute part of its 364-bus fleet to an effort that will end at undisclosed shelters north of Lake Pontchartrain, RTA spokeswoman Rosalind Cook said.

Not all the buses will be available, she cautioned. "We might be talking about as many as 100," she said.

The agency would hold much of its fleet back to continue operating on city streets until forced to shut down by a city curfew. The number of evacuation buses is further limited by the number of volunteer drivers who sign up to drive them away, she said.

Even if the entire fleet was used, the buses would carry only about 22,000 people out of the city -- far short of the 134,000 people estimated to be without cars in a recent University of New Orleans study.

In past years planners have talked about recruiting churches and their small private fleets into an evacuation effort. The idea, called Operation Brother's Keeper, has largely withered in the face of the complexity of the details, said Kay Wilkins, a spokeswoman for the American Red Cross.

The state Legislature last year killed a bill to give immunity from liability to any person or organization providing free transportation during an emergency, except in cases of gross negligence. Critics of the bill said volunteers could be covered by insurance and questioned whether the proposal would be constitutional.

The Rev. William Maestri, a spokesman for the Archdiocese of New Orleans, said some church parishes may be mounting local evacuation efforts, but those would be announced through parish communication outlets.

"You know the barge that broke the levee,,WSJ has an article today on this..... That barge is owned by a company and was not secured in the Canal"

I just heard a brief something about this today but I didn't get the whole story -- the moment I heard that it was a BARGE that broke the levee I was in shock -- how could 'they' (anybody) possibly allow any kind of barges anywhere near the levees with a Cat. 4/5 hurricane coming? WHO was responsible for that cataclysmic fiasco?

This woman needs to be arrested on charges of attempted murder, or (if it can be done) charges of attempted genocide.

If criminal negligence can be applied to elected officials, I suspect that Blanco and Nagin would be candidates for prosecution.

UNBELIEVABLE! The blundering state agencies were blocking all kinds of aid and rescue to people stranded in NOLA while the national MSM was working up stories of supposed FEMA incompetence...... we need to collect every possible fact and anecdote and END THE COVER-UP. Blanco and her 'Rat pals must fry.... ah, I love the smell of fried rats in the morning.

This is getting worse and worse for Blanco.

The reason for all of the "gorilla dust" of the past week is becoming more apparent daily: The utter failure of Democrat politicians and their nanny state has been revealed for all to see.

They are calling for his impeachment. Pretty much whatever happens, they call for impeachment. They are now trying to figure out how to make high gas prices an impeachable offense.

I heard they waited for buses that never showed up, and then drove out the ones that they thought had the best chance of survival.

I'm having trouble blaming the politicians for pointing fingers (the ones that weren't personally responsible). No politician can afford not to be seen as fighting for more aid at a time like this. And there is no downside for complaining about the lack of help, even while praising what help you get.

Those who are helped don't care, and those who weren't want their local politicians to fight for them.

The Nagin/Blanco complaints are annoying because it was their fault.

"Why, if we offered food and water at the shelter, people might be tempted to go there and use it."

Is it possible she did not want more people to go there because of all the News Cameras? Was there something about the population of New Orleans she did not want the world and all the potential tourists to New Orleans to see??

He's "wired into the party" as you say, but the Clintons hold the power. dfwgator brought up the point that this may be personal to him because he is from LA. I've said that there comes a time when you can't be a part of political shenanigans (especially as horrendous as this involving human lives)if you have any decency at all. If he is torn between loyalties, and he isn't going to go along with the politicization of this tragedy, it might be wise to keep his mouth shut if he wants to continue to be a player in the Dem party, at least as long as the Clintons are running it.

If it weren't for the victims who still need help, I would hope that governor Blanco and mayor Nagin stay in office for a long time.

I would be a lesson to America:

See what happens when you elect self-serving incompetents (Dems) to office.

The state also cited the dangerous water (height and toxicity) to the Red Cross, and the violence, but the main issue seems to have been they didn't want that "magnet" and wanted to encourage people to evacuate

These are the EXCUSES and RATIONALIZATIONS they are making for why they blocked aid. But none of it holds up. The only reason they blocked aid was to blame Bush and accuse him of WITHHOLDING aid to black people.

What we're witnessing, people, is an attempted political assassination -- not by a bullet, but by a complete set-up followed by a cacophony of lies and slander -- concocted by the Democrat Party and the MSM in complete collusion, and carried out hand-in-hand by same. It cannot be allowed to stand, in any way, shape, or form. Our nation will not survive if it is permitted.

I got it wrong. Campbell Brown's father, Jim, was in prison for insurance fraud. Hugh Hewitt was talking about Mike Brown who frauded the levee board.
