WASHINGTON -- Ford Motor Co. on Wednesday recalled 3.8 million pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles for a cruise control switch suspected of causing engine fires. It is the fifth largest auto industry recall in U.S. history.

Ford said the recall of 1994-2002 model-year vehicles includes the company's hot-selling F-150 pickup truck, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator and Ford Broncos. The company said it would start sending out recall notices to vehicle owners immediately.

Never owned any minivan. My brother had a 91 Windstar and he liked it for trips with his family. Or was that an Aerostar? But no I have never owned one.

All of you jealous wimps give me a huge laugh ~ the Ford F-150 is biggest selling pickup around, it's probably the biggest selling vehicle?

Anyway, you drive want you and I'll continue to drive Fords.

I bought my first car: a Ford in 1948.

My 02 Ranger has 88k already. I love them both. Wife has 05 Escape Midsize SUV. It is nice.

The number 1 selling vehicle in the world is the Honda Super Cub. It broke all records years ago.

It doesn't make it the best vehicle in the world, just the one that sells the best (cheap).

Let's see how your Ford does offroad. My Jeep will run rings around you. On road, I have a motorcycle that will spank your F-150 and send it crying back to momma.

Jealous? Not at all.

You have a short retention span, too, eh.

I said "I don't take anything said or written personally.

You do get 'personally' and "feelings', don't you?

I control my feelings, my feelings don't control me.

I feel what I want to feel.

My Ford can carry You, your motorcycle and your momma in the bed while towing your jeep.
All while I sit all comfy in the cab listening to my Zeppelin CDs.

Not likely. It's a Grand Wagoneer. My GVWR is higher than your maximum towing capacity.

The F250 SD has a towing capacity of 13500lbs, I'm quite confidant it can handle your jeep.

Before or after your PowerStroke diesel stalls out for no apparent reason? (Yup, there's a recall on those, too).

Getting desperate aren't we.

Apples and oranges ~ God you are hilarous.

Hell ~ my 70HP Suzuki SV650 V-Twin will blow the Lightning off.

I don't go offroading, use to dirt bike ride in the old days, sold my last dirt bike in '83, for 20 years I always a had a dirt bike and at least one street bike.

Look ~ you drive and ride what you want to drive and ride, I'll drive and ride what I want to drive and ride.

I try not to bad-rap any other person's drive or ride, that's why we have so many choices.

I've owned all kinds of vehicles, both two wheel and four wheel in the last 57 years and what I'm driving and riding now, suits my purpose very, very well.

If that upsets you, enjoy your upset. ;)

I have 3 Excursions and a F-350 dually pick-up and we love them all. With 5 kids and several horses that I need to tow around, the diesel Excursion is the only vehicle up to the task.

"Before or after your PowerStroke diesel stalls out for no apparent reason?"

You're right, one of my Excursions did that but we figured out it was the chip that my husband put on it. Changed the chip, never happened again.

Consider yourself blessed.

Here is my list of repairs I made on this van for the past year and a half : head gaskets, lifters , speedometer serviced ( twice ), secondary intake runner controller , egr intake ports cleaned , rear blower control switch , strut rod bushings replaced along with one sleeve replaced and the other welded, left front hub bearing , right lower control arm - (ball joint bad), both inner tie rods , dropping resistor for the coolant fan motor.

I am sure there is one or two that I am missing as well.

Items I have not fixed that have cropped up recently: timing cover gasket starting to seep coolant, anti-lock brake system has an issue ( there is a drive motor inside the unit that has failed) , egr valve is intermitently losing vacuum when it shouldn`t (control solenoid is going bad ).

I was in the auto repair industry for 17 years and have never owned a bigger piece of poop vehicle in my life.

I also own an 84 Ford E-150 and it is the best darn vehicle I have ever owned. That thing will break in half from rust before it stops runnung.
