so Pres Bush nominates a CJ who will be in place for 50 years ? Guess it makes sense tho I'm thinking it will sting Scalia. NOW, Roberts has to turn out to be truly a conservative. Rehnquist, tho, was only 3rd sitting Justice to be so elevated, it is not the tradition.

I don't understand why everyone thinks Scalia would be better.
We need a CJ who will be there for 40 years, not just another 20.
You never know who will be President when the CJ dies or retires, so a Scalia pick could mean a liberal CJ takes over in 20 years. Consider that.
Youth is a top priority on all picks!

Souter already had complimentary things to say about Justice Rehnquist, earlier.

Roberts would be the 17th Chief Justice.

Agree on Julian. But it isn't even the lib part that bothers me, he just dumb and blathers on silliness at odd times and too often.

One thing I thought was telling is how the President started off by saying(paraphrase) "Over the past weeks, the American people have been able to get to know Judge Robert's and they like what they see"
Smack to the MSM IMHO
