the article was released to the internet on the 3rd but the actual date of the article is the 4th. It was released before it was written? ;-)
The WP isn't as bad as the NYT, but I wouldn't put it past them to deliberately obfuscate. Bush declared a state of emergency before the storm. Hard to believe he'd have just left it there for a week.

I was waiting for that one. The Dems think they can win the next election and replace an older Chief Justice.
I hope whoever the President appoints lives a long, prosperous, originalist life.

Chertoff is correctly assessing and giving a picture of what the country is up against with this NO disaster. Those people do not have a city.

Yeah that's true but tell me what net you have seen the bus shots on. I have seen it here many times but absent the new media, it will be tough to get it out.
That will be the story again, if truth is to be learned about the problems in La. it will be found in the New Media. The old media has been in COA mode since the start.
One of the worst parts of the entire hurricane saga is how the people of NO were actually treated by their Governor and Mayor. They are and were treated as totally helpless people who have no control over their destiny whatsoever. I don't understand this.
We face hurricane threats all the time here in the Keys and it is always our "choice" whether to leave or not. If we don't the burden of the "consequences" is "ours" not the state's.

Good point of course the last thing you would want is to transport criminals that would destroy the infrastructure of the refuge centres. It would also be necessary to secure the city to lock these up.

The left is hammering the President and every time they lift the hammer for a strike they hit themselves in the head.
The accusations are so over the top it's not credible.

Best news I have heard today. Looks like it should be fairly bland except for CNN. How the Republican have the guts to fight back. The truth is on their side if they have the courage to use it.

Russert needs to read his own left-leaning news sources. The fault lies squarely with Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco:
Louisiana did not reach out to a multi-state mutual aid compact for assistance until Wednesday, three state and federal officials said. As of Saturday, Blanco still had not declared a state of emergency, the senior Bush official said.
Blanco Refused to Act

littlegreenfootballs.com ^ | 09/04/05 | LGF At the Washington Post, in a story with a headline that gives no indication of the important information it contains, we discover that federal officials were desperately trying to get Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco to do something about the disaster in New Orleansbut she refused to act: Thousands Remain To Be Evacuated.
