Hmmm. This could stretch the pro-abortion forces to the limit, trying to smear two pro-life nominees at the same time.
Well, one can hope.

If hurricane Katrina had a face, that is what I imagine it to be.

If the President has accepted her resignation, can O'Connor rescind it?
O'Connor resignation is contingent upon her successor's confirmation. So if the Roberts hearings drag out until October, then she will be still be on the court for the next term. I don't think she can at this point rescind it. Sure, President Bush can ask her to stay on & if she says yes, but unilaterally I say no.

Pray for President Bush, he sure has a lot on his plate. I think of this often. The burdens of his presidency have been heavy.

This one really requires Divine intervention. It requires prayer and fasting from us.
And it requires Pres. Bush to go martial on his enemies on the East and West Coasts and all points in between.

but she's from Louisiana. That's gotta make her a huuuuge sentimental favorite, given the circumstances.

R.I.P. Justice Renquist, a hero and a stalwart against the on-rushing tide of nanny-state liberalism begun by the Warren court.
To: JCEccles
What is saddest to me is that I think that Rehnquist wanted to hold on long enough to swear in his old clerk.

DUmpster reaction:
ordinaryaveragegirl: "Bush gets a chance to put TWO freepers on the bench. It's time to start writing your reps NOW, everyone. We need to start early and strong to try to keep some balance on the court, or we could be socially screwed..."
uppityperson: "oh s*, Canada, want us?"
derby378: "Holy Red A-*-lert This is really, really bad."
Erika: "Theocracy, here we come. I, for one, will join Cindy, and refuse to pay taxes to a theocratic, anti-woman, anti-minority government. "
SW FL Dem: "I beg to differ I never liked Rehnquist, but I think there are many young judges out there who could make our lives miserable for many years to come. This is really bad news."
