<< Rehnquist was appointed to the Supreme Court as an associate justice in 1971 by President Nixon and took his seat on Jan. 7, 1982. He was elevated to chief justice by President Reagan in 1986. >>

Pool time:
Make your wager as to how many minutes or hours (as of 11:15 pm EST 9/3/05) before Senators Schumer, Kennedy, et, al. make a statement as to what qualities President Bush must find in his replacement.

....how much can Bush handle....
that was my first reaction too....of course, also sorry for Rehnquist's family. ****
You see pictures of President Bush as recent as 3 years ago, and now it seems he's aged so... Now another fight with those damn Democrats on Capitol Hill after this...
Prayers to the Rehnquist family...and to President Bush.

its not necessairly "bad", its just that there are alot of balls in the air right now for him. in fact, I can't think of a president dealing with a set of issues like this, in totality, since the cuban missile crisis.
To: kcvl
G-d rest and keep his soul.
Five bucks says the DUmmies are dancing a collective jig, right about now.

Would be kinda funny that Dubya would have appoint African American or Hispanic to Chief Justice
Can you imagine I like see Demos react to that try turn down first African American or Hispanic judges as Chief Justice

Mark my words. The RATS will call for postponing SCOTUS hearings in light of Katrina. Anything to keep conservatives off the court.

Timing, timing, timing. . . . . .
The Democrats will insist on stalling Roberts' hearing until Bush names a nominee for the Rehnquist seat.
When in doubt, delay and confuse; delay and confuse; delay and confuse.
