Glad you like to help storm victims. < / sarcasm > If the busses can get in you can get out. The busses are only for the Superdome crowd, not for the other people in the city. So what are the rest of the people to do? And what about the people who have already left NO. Where are they to go or stay? no one can afford to live in a hotel for very long, especially if their job was lost with the storm. What would you do? Just sit there with no food or water and no sign of rescue. Would you expect the government to come in and help you because you are unwilling to try to help yourself? I would not stay in a crowd where people are being raped, where rescuers are being shot at by the victims, etc. You cannot expect the nanny state to look after you in a natural disaster. That's the first thing you are taught in disaster preparedness. No one will be there to help you if you do not evacuate. Sure, leaving immediately after the storm would be impossible, but that doesn't mean you sit there and say poor me, I can't do anything unless the government helps me.

"My God is a just and forgiving God and not one that dolls out punishment.

He send us the rainbow after he flooded the earth ,as a promise to us and then he send his beloved son to forgive us for our sins."

That's the Christian deity I'm familiar with, too, not the one twig writes about. I worry about those who think their deity is just doing what's right with these situations.

I do not have a religious faith, but respect those who do, as long as their faith has to do with decency and neighborliness. All others....I oppose.

God is not my deity. He is GOD, creator of the universe. I don't understand how He works, because His ways are higher than my ways and His thoughts are higher than My thoughts. Man originally chose to sin, beginning the cycle of sin that is in the world. God, in His mercy, died Himself to reclaim sinful man to Himself. It is man who is shooting on his fellow man here, not God. God gives man the ability to choose how he lives his life. And God is not an it. He is a He. I do not think that God punishes as such, but uses events to get man's attention. His punishment was focused on His son who suffered it for us. But I do try and hear His voice.

I suspect that other posters don't particularly want to hear a religious discussion, so I'm signing off. I like a lot of what you've said in earlier posts. You've brought a lot of good, solid sense into how to deal in this crisis. Thanks.

These thugs will go down. No doubt about it. They will be left in the land of filth and they will die a terrible death of sickness because of their greed and evil hearts.

I am talking about the folks that say this is God's Revenge on New Orleans -- he missed the French Quarter and took out homes of a lot of really great people in three states.

That's taking religion and my belief that God is a Loving God and twisting to suit one's purpose. That God is punishing is from the Old Testament where God destroyed cities -- this Christian doesn't believe that this is God's Will with the hurricanes to punish some really good people for the sins of a few and yes they are a few when it comes down to the millions that live in that area.

That kind of talk just steams me. New Orleans is no more "wicked" than any other place--it has its share, but so does every place on the planet. If it's about punishing the wicked, how come so many of the good are suffering?

FNC Alert: FEMA tells EMT's in NOLA it is too dangerous to
work there. Hard to believe that relief efforts are being thwarted by thuggery. Where is the Armed Nat'l Guard???
Are they worried about going after armed "victims" for fear of touching off riots???

"Voodoo is popular among many down there. Some of them congregate around the Catholic cathedral (not in it, maybe they actually go in, I don't know.) It's been going on for years."

Ah, I see. So it's OK if your deity destroys New Orleans because there are a few folks who believe in some strange religion? Do you really think that is true? If so, then I have nothing but pity for you and your religious beliefs.

Most Christians are more sensible.

This is one scary scene!

Prison inmates are held at the end of a sunken highway in New Orleans, Louisiana August 31, 2005 after Hurricane Katrina struck.

I can respect you are not having a religious faith and I thank you for your kind words.

I don't like people that take the bible out of context and interpret it to their agenda/cause.

I await that destiny. All the open cuts, visible and not visible, being the entrance route for filth to enter their bloodstream. Unfortunately, we won't have camera crews their to document their slow, writhing, agonizing death by diarrhea and septicemia.

. New Orleans is no more "wicked" than any other place-

I beg to differ with your comments. NY did not even shoot those who were out to help. N.O. has a lot of evil and it is a city full of deserate and drug addicted thugs. Not ALL but many and the few... are the ones that make the many look bad. What happened? Why did this city get to this type of all for me... attitude. THat is not the country or the city I live in.

I agree with that.

My comment was to the person that asserted that this is Gods punishment for the sins we committed.
