The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Tropical Storm 12
Sidney Barthelemey is insisting that the 3000 troops committed are not enough. He all but got on his hands and knees. And of course Solodad O'Brien (she is gorgeous to look at but clueless once she opens her mouth) kept egging him on...
You are 100% correct. Grinds me to no end when it happens in the south, the coverage is nil. Actually when the huge CA fires were happening I went to KTLA from LA because of lack of coverage by the national media.
Article this morning from The Oklahoman sports section that Hollis Price, a former Sooner basketball player who plays in Germany, had all of his bags packed ready to head to Germany. They were in his bedroom in the 9th Ward of New Orleans. Did say that all of his family is safe in Houston - at least the family that raised him -- his grandparents. He said he was looking at the video and could pick out his neighborhood.
Very true. If it were N.Y or the other cities you mentioned, SeeBS, NBC, and ABC would cancel most of their idiotic and meaningless programming, and have nearly 24 hour coverage of this terrible event!
Git er done!
If he's an example of NO politicians, God save the Big Easy.

Collecting bodies, New Orleans
That's funny..... but BAD timing.
Military is on its way according to the Pentagon reporter on CNN. They even have a hospital ship getting ready to make the trip. I cannot take Fox and Friends in the morning so I am watching Soledad.
Former Mayor makes more sense in calling for the military. I cannot fathom the pictures of the water flowing into the city. What are they doing with people at the superdome -- haven't heard this morning.
Quietwater Beach Apartments, Biloxi
You should be quiet now.
MSNBC just did an update on Cindy Sheehan. I'm not kidding.
My sentiments exactly! It is a city out of control it looks like.
The generator in the SuperDome is currently offline.
I am not making this up. I will go get the link to prove that this is what they are going to do.
Why isn't anyone working on the levees?
Chicken farm hit by twister, Georgia.
Speaking of that, I heard this morning that they called off attempts to fix the levees last night because of DARKNESS. They said they were afraid the helicopters might run into each other.
How about some serious lights and some serious generators?
I find the fact that they stopped working on these levees for eight hours to be ABSURD.
Before this is all over, regular Army troops (and/or Marines) are going to end up patrolling New Orleans. I think it may have been a bit of a mistake for the mayor or governor to proclaim "martial law" in New Orleans but have no troops there to back it up; it looks now like they were starting to panic, and the "martial law" declaration has done nothing to stop the looting. The ghouls are getting out of control.
And I agree 100%. Anybody looting in a residential area should just be shot on the spot--no warning, just a .223 between the eyes or shoulderblades. Ditto for anybody looting non-essentials like jewelry or TVs or similar.

One thing to keep in mind is the lack of gasoline availability the closer you get to the affected areas - not only for the generators, but also for the trip there and home. Unless your friend has a whole bunch of gasoline cans for both needs, I would postpone the trip for another couple of days.
