The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Get Rudy.
I have floor space and extra food.
They have done a lot to harm the city, including dikes that funnel river water through the delta in such a way as to erode the land that served as a buffer between NO and the Gulf.
This has been driving me nuts as well. Seems like so much water so quickly. I understand they don't know where all the breeches are. Could somebody here explain to me if it's possible the river levy has been compromised from underneath... maybe just some sort of saturation?
Absolutely. CNN's coverage has been outstanding.
I just cannot watch Fox for big news stories, CNN is much better. Fox better get their act together or else CNN is going to catch up with them.
You won't regret it. They're doing a great job, like they did with the Pope's funeral.
Haven't seen her on T.V. today, only reading about it here. That bad huh?

"First of all the Admin Moderators need to set your threads up on the top subject board to where you don't have to look for this like Cindy S., Karl Rowe, etc. This is an American tragedy and all Freepers need to be able to come right to this. I found out about Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and the news like I feared is horrible."
I fourth this opinion.

If the oil is not coming into this country, there will be a world wide glut on the market. Oil prices world wide will crash. However if you can't get it into this country that doesn't help us. But, if we can't take in oil, OPEC will be trying to give it away. The movie did not take into consideration that all the oil we were not taking in anymore had to go somewhere. If our economy fails and can't buy from China, then their economy will also fail.
CNN and Wolf Blitzer are kicking Fox's ass right now.
