Do any Freepers from Texas to Alabama have a spare generator they would sell or rent to my family? None of the sears from Fort Worth to Jackson have any. I weathered the storm just south of Jackson and am in Fort Worth now. My brother in law will be out here in a few hours looking for a generator. My father in law has no power or water and need a generator. Freepmail me at this name if you can help.

I realize that this may not be the best place for this message, but here's a list of websites that are trying to connect survivors and their families :

Hurricane Katrina Survivor Check-In
Katrina Survivors Database
New Orleans Pundit Missing and Found Bulletin Board
Hurricane Katrina Help Wiki

My apologies if this is considered forum abuse.

Thank you!

You're very kind!

I have fared beautifully though! Only out of power for 12 hours or so.

I have people all around my city and the South that are not faring as well as I, sadly.

Just heard from my Sweet Baby, he's in Mississippi taking water to the WalMart stores over there.

He heard on the radio that folks in Richland, Ms, are having to boil their water now.
We have an 8 year old Grandboy over there. He's a darling!!!

I can't get any of them on the phone. Cell or land.
SB text messaged them yesterday, they text messaged back and they were okay.....hot, but okay.;-)

But now that they are boiling water, It doesn't sound as good.
Looks like they are in for a sad few days more! ;-(

This is getting sadder as the days go by!

Lord, help us all!!!

(from email)
Team PA,

Navy leadership is sincerely concerned for our Sailors and their family members in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. In light of the communication difficulties created by the hurricane, BUPERS has set up a 24 hour helpline for both Sailors and families to call for information regarding their loved ones.

The number is 1-877-414-5358

This line will be staffed 24 hours by active duty Navy volunteers and will have connectivity with Navy, FEMA and other government agencies. They will try their very best to answer questions regarding the status of Navy family members, but please be aware that communication in the region is still inconsistent.

Thank you. I purchased the display model at the Home Depot in Fort Worth. It should hold us over for a while. Thanks to everyone who responded to my post. Freepers are the greatest.

Askel is safe and well out of danger. She missed the storm because of pre-existing plans to be out of town.

ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just spoke with my Father-in-Law in Lutcher, they are OK! They have power, and even TV. Unbelievable. The phone circuits have been down/busy until tonight.

He is 93, and re-married when he was 70. His wife's oldest son is from Metairie; they are not letting folks back in until Monday. It looks bad for them at their house, but they were with the folks in Lutcher and are all OK.

Thank God for His protection for them, and may His mercy be with all those who are hurting tonight.

Ted

Checking in. In central AL still without power. Just lost one tree and a huge limb. Most frightening sounding of the three hurricanes. Praying for those on the coast and NO. The images are horrendous.

Had a reunion planned with college friends for October in New Orleans. Had friends coming from all over the country. We have all spent alot of time together there. Attended 2 Sugar Bowls. Lots of fun memories had and more planned until now. We all still get together with Plan B (not planned yet).

Very glad to hear you are safe. Thank you for checking in. I'm sure you will have a marvelous reunion with your college friends, no matter where the location.

Take care of you - and please let us know when you have electricity again.

Checking in from BR. Got no damage, just been without power until today. Helping with shelters, am very tired, and appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. It is as bad as we all imagined. Just got my internet service back up and am trying to catch up on pings.
