Ignoring all legal issues....

Would you care/object if your children's teacher was openly (not flaming) gay?

Would it make any difference if the gay teacher was male or female?

Would it make any difference if the gay person taught elementary, middle school or high school?

As long as he or she was there strictly to teach and not to promote the gay agenda or act in an openly gay manner and he or she were a competent teacher in the areas they were there to teach in, I wouldn't care.

We are watching this unfold in our small rural town. My daughter just withdrew from athletics yesterday. She is sickened by the idea of having to dress out in the presence of this creep.

Because a large majority of pedophiles are gay, I would be VERY uncomfortable with one teaching children by the ages of 6-15yrs. Once the child is a young adult, it would be OK with me.

It's a morality question. Put it a different way:

Would you care/object if your children's teacher was openly telling everyone about their latest heterosexual desires and wants?

For sure I would care and it wouldn't make a difference if where they taught and what their gender is.

My belief is that sexuality is a private thing between a married man and woman. Adultery, homosexuality, and sexual activity outside of marriage all fall under the same standard. If the teacher conveys to the children that this is the lifestyle they lead and endorse then they don't have any business being there.

Teachers are not "friends". They're not confidantes. They're not there to be liked (although it's not a bad thing to be liked). They are in positions of authority and their job is to teach.

For me, it's a question of how well I knew the person and whether I knew them to be trustworthy.

I know a few homosexuals. A couple I would have no problems letting babysit my kids. Some others I would not trust to do so, but not because they are gay.

As long as the gay lifestyle, or ANY sex talk was never presented, I'd have no issue with it.

That's pretty much how I feel. In fact, I don't know too much about the home life of many of the teachers I had over the years because they never much talked about it. If the talk consists of, "My partner and I visited Boston last month...", that's OK. If the person has an axe to grind and pushes the gay lifestyle or agenda, I'd be bothered by that. Then again, I'd also be bothered by a heterosexual teacher promoting promiscuity, S&M, etc.

What is openly gay? Why is someone's sexuality known for any reason? Does the teacher have a picture of their partner on their desk? Does their partner meet them at school? Does the teacher have a personal website where their homosexuality is mentioned?

Some children are confused about their sexuality when they are younger. The older they get, the less confused they are. Yes, I would strongly object.

No. Unfortunately, homosexuals molest children at a disproportionately high rate. That doesn't mean all homosexuals molest children, just a disproportionately higher number. The latest article on the subject can be found here:

5 to 10 sex partners a night? Yea, right. I don't care what these people said on the film, it isn't possible. Try it yourself. If your married, try to have sex 10 times in an evening with your wife. Go ahead, try it. And then try to do it again the next night, and the night after, and so on. Try it for a week, let alone 10 years.

That doesn't have to mean..ahem...that you are attaining a level of satisfaction yourself. You might be performing acts intended to benefit the other person.

When my children were in public school, the school hosted a meet the teaching team for the next year. I sat in the audience and listend to the 7th grade reading teacher proudly explain how the kids would read 2 books, and the homosexual gym/health teacher explain how they were going to tell our children ALL about sex, the whole shebang.....

and I thought, no, no your not. I really don't want my sons to learn all about sex from this not quite flaming, but very out there lesbian teacher.

We started homeschooling. That was years ago. We'll never go back.

Modernman... All homosexual men only represent less than 1% of the general population. This notion that the "gay" lifestyle is generally represented by normal everyday folks is a farce.

Yes, not all gays run around having anonymous sex with 10 partners a night every night... but far far far more gay men do this among that group of 1% of the population that you find prostitutes and sex addicts running around doing it amoung the non homosexual population.

The gay "lifestyle" is a hedonistic selfish and self destructive behavior.. Just like alcoholics hold down jobs in spite of drinking until drunk every night.

However, it doesn't matter if you are in the village of NYC, or some po dunk area of Kansas... The anonymous, multiple partner hedonistic sexual activity is an overwhelming part of the "lifestyle". They aren't chasing normal everyday heteros away from parks after dark, or highway rest stops because they are straight orgy spots night after night after night.

You are 100% naive if you do not recognize the realities of this "lifestyle" and those that not only engage in it, but openly broadcast it.

The idea that the vast majority gays are just 9 to 5ers that go home to their loved one(s) at night, is a myth.

I'd make sure my children were refreshed on what makes "inappropriate" behavior. That's good to do regardless of the gender of the teacher or whether the teacher is in a marriage.

I didn't know until many years on that I'd had a lesbian teacher in grade school. She had been nothing but professional. Whereas in later years, there was a married, new mother, who would sexually harass her students (age 11+). Saw inappropriate behavior by a professor in college too.

It's a bit of roulette anytime you leave your kids with anyone whether a teacher, sitter or their friend's parents and you have to arm your kids to know how to deal with teachers and other adults who are inappropriate.

So as long as professionalism is maintained, I don't have a problem. If you start acting boorish and go off evangelizing a political or religious agenda like Howard Dean as MoveOn.org rally then I want to know about it so I can make sure it doesn't become destructive indoctrination.

Agreed. There used to be boundaries between adults and children...and the understandings/activities of adulthood and the understandings/activities of childhood.

Activists of many stripes took that away from our culture and therefore exposed our children to the worst kind of theft...that of their natural childhood. it is increasingly difficult to keep children healthy and intact.
