Why do you zot Cuban President Castro so much?
- | Today | Fidel Forever!

Posted on 08/11/2005 10:00:15 PM PDT by Fidel Forever

Why do you people dislike Fidel Castro Ruz, the President of the Council of State and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic so much?

President Castro has eliminated hunger, obesity and Cuban technology leaves America's in the dust!

Cuba = Free education, free healthcare.

Cuba = No exploitation, no prostitution!

By the way, I got your universal health care right here:

Tourist dies a mile from help

By Helen Johnstone . The Times. UK. February 24 2000

A BRITISH tourist who went to Cuba to celebrate his engagement died in agony in an ill-equipped hospital unaware that facilities that could have saved him were minutes away, an inquest heard yesterday.

Philip Yeoman's fiancée watched him suffer after he sustained a fractured skull and his leg was partially severed in an accident. Jane Harris, 47, then spent four hours trying to find help for Mr Yeoman after staff tried to treat him with a bandage. Doctors tried to drain blood from his lung without anaesthetic and an oxygen machine did not work.

When the 16st rugby fan died, Ms Harris learned that there was a fully-equipped hospital a mile away.

After a verdict of accidental death was recorded at the inquest at Reading, Ms Harris described how their holiday turned into a nightmare. The couple, from Marlow, Buckinghamshire, had been enjoying their holiday when Mr Yeoman, 45, was crushed between two lorries on a moped in Varadero, on September 7 last year. Ms Harris watched as a dilapidated ambulance arrived to take him on the hour-long journey.

"Philip was screaming in pain most of the way. His leg was almost hanging off, but the ambulance staff just wrapped it in a plastic bag," she said. "They finally decided to cut into his side to drain his lung, with no anaesthetic. They tried to insert a tube into him but it didn't fit . . . A doctor then picked up another from the floor and tried that. All the time an old lady was on her hands and knees mopping up the blood."

While I was walking on the stair.
I saw a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today.
I wish that he would go away.

It's funny you posted that picture. That car body comes from one of the GDR's "low-cost high-quality vehicles." The Trabant. "Trabbie." After the wall came down, West Germany banned Trabants in the country because they are crap. West Germans on the autobahns were driving right through these things when it was dark or foggy. Lots of East Germans died in these things.

"I will admit that Cuba does have good cigars"

I won't. The best growers, tobacco processors and rollers left for Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Miami and other places long ago.

If you want a good cigar, have an Arturo Fuente Lonsdale in Maduro leaf.

I'll keep an eye out for it. I'm surprised I don't have it bookmarked, but it was a good read. Here is a similar story that was posted around the same time:

http://www.salon.com/people/feature/2002/02/07/cuba_milk/index.html

I didn't reread it yet, but I think it's kind of disgusting. My memory is that the author basically says, "My eyes were opened to how bad it is for the average Cuban, but it sure is fun for the tourists! As long as I don't have to see the bad side, I'm going back!"

Hi,

I know you have posted a lot of information about Cuba in the past, and I'm wondering if you remember the story about a couple who vacationed down there a few years ago. As I recall, they were somewhat liberal and have said they will continue to vacation, but they had their eyes opened to the way the Cuban people live under the Castro regime. I believe the man had an accident on a bike of some sort, and was taken to a free clinic. He found the conditions to be appalling, and I remember something about bandages being taken from a garbage can, or something like that.

If this rings a bell and you have a link, I would appreciate it.

I don't remember that one.

I do know Cubans have to take their own supplies to the hospital when they go, including clean sheets.

"May we remember the legacies of Karl Marx, Vladimir Illich Lenin, Jozef Stalin, Felix Dzerzhinskyy, Erich Honecker and Erich Mielke forever!"

Knock yourself out...no one else remembers the losers. You might as well be the only one.

I hope we remember them. How many Russians and Chinese starved to death because of them? How many Cambodians and Vietnamese were put in shallow graves with bullet holes or with knife wounds when bullets got expensive? If we ever forget these "losers" and the horrors their ideas brought about, we may wind up repeating them.

BTW, can we zot with a dog?
