Is this the first time in history that the British Police have actually used a gun. Hopefully the Policeman wont be sent to prison.

They are reporting that they think it is a guy from yesterday that they were looking for, remember they have pictures.

"London Police Hunt for Terror Suspects"
Friday, July 22, 2005
"LONDON
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Police have said that the backpacks and explosives used in Thursday's attacks appear to strongly resemble the materials used in the July 7 attacks.
Two were arrested in connection to the bombings, but both were later released. One was initially detained near Downing Street, site of the prime minister's residence. The other was picked up near Tottenham Court Road, close to the Warren Street subway station where one attack took place.
Detectives are working on the basis that the bombs were not properly primed, sources told Sky News. That could explain eyewitness accounts of suspects fleeing the scenes of at least some of the blasts.
Police officials said it was too early to tell whether the failed bombings were the doings of an Al Qaeda or affiliated cell. They did say, however, that there was a "clear similarity" between Thursday's incidents and the July 7 bombings."

'SUICIDE BOMBER' SHOT Police have shot a suspected suicide bomber at a tube station in south London. Reports are also coming in that a mosque in the east of the capital has been surrounded by armed officers and residents told to stay indoors.Good. It needs to be done.

it's another "Asian" suspect... An eyewitness to the shooting described him as looking like a "pakistani" - which was great since it will be a week prob before we hear that.

If I read the sketchy news correctly..5 or so Police officers pinned a suspected bomber to the ground, then shot him. That folks is the equivalent of throwing yourself atop a genade..that god for brave men such as these..

The point I'm trying to make about Britain is that they have coddled Islam in the hopes the alligator would eat someone else. Now that the terrorists can't get into the United States, the terrorists are lashing out at secondary targets. All I'm asking for is for England to drain the swamp and we'll all be safer.

MadIvan and most Britons are just as responsible for these attacks as we are for September 11th. Which is to say - NOT. They did not bring this on themselves, and they are not to be attacked for being attacked. They deserve our eternal gratitude for being our friends and our allies during this war... Britons are America's true friends, and to insinuate they are less is to denigrate the sacrifice of all those Britons who have given their lives in defense of freedom. Well said. It's strange though that if I as a Briton had said 9/11 was the fault of America's foreign policy/administration/economy/...blah blah, to those same people who say Britain has brought it on thmeselves I would be vilified by them!

How long will it be for "Senator" Durbin criticizes the British police as "Nazis" for not bringing this "dissident" in the Tube crumpets and tea? Does any true FReeper really want to be compared to that dirtbag? ;-)

...Its obvious that the police can't take any chances under these circumstances and people really do understand... Hypothetically, if this guy did not have a bomb on him, you would have to be living in Fantasyland to think that the London papers are not going to plaster his mother and children and write sympathetic stories for a month about how this innocent was gunned down in cold blood by the cops. It allows the newspapers to do the three things they love the best, sell papers, act smug, and bash cops.
