Like I said, no guts no glory. It will be a while before we know where Clement actually stands with SCOTUS rulings, but if the Democrats had the chutzpah to nominate an ACLU vermin like Ginsburg and get her through without a contest, why the defeatism on our side of the aisle when it comes to nominating choices that reflect conservative values?

The Dems took advantage of our stupidity and used their politcal currency to get Breyer and Ginsburg on the Court. The tepid pussyfooting of the GOP amazes me to no end.

Actually, if Bush and the Republicans fail on this issue, I'm rooting for gridlock. Less damage will be done to the nation.

George w is smiling a lot and almost giddy today, he may have a few things up his sleeve. How about if he brings Priscilla Owen,Janice Rogers Brown and Edith C Brown to introduce the nomination of the real candidate Edith Jones. He will also have Laura and Condi standing there and maybe both his daughters. The NOW gang would have a mass wrist slashing session. LOL!

To: seamole If Clement gets on the Court and votes to uphold Roe, I will have to concede that the plan to vote Republican to stop abortion has failed. And that means I won't be voting Republican again.

Do you really think if Roe was overturned that abortion would become illegal?

That's NOT what would happen, believe me I live in CA, it was legal before Roe and would be after. You can't blame Republicans for that.

How would she stand on the Kelo case, is that of any importance to you?

Can you show me the love of Jesus that resides in your last statement?
This hypothetical junk to paint us as less than authentic lacks any Biblical backing as far as reaching out to the lost.

I agree that that is disgusting and reprehensible. I just kind of thought that assuming she would choose money over her child is harsh, and baseless.

You are right to be passionate on this issue. Someone ealier said that it's the culture we have to change. I agree with that.

"Breaking the promise to appoint a Scalia-like originalist is not excusable or forgiveable, whenever that fact becomes known"

I do not want to throw water on your misery, BUT, do you know something about the Judge that I don't? As near as I can tell, she is a solid constitutionalist. Nothing else matters. If she views the actual words of the Constitution and the intent of the drafter as being more important than bad precident, she will be great.

New question....Was she on the 5th when Emerson was decided? If she was involved in that GREAT decision, she knows her constitution.

But a nominee that sends the 'Rats ballistic isn't necessarily a good one. Do you recall Molly Yard declaring that Souter WILL be the fifth vote (to overturn Roe V. Wade) and her prediction that women would be thrown in jail? (Rush played that clip and then the sound of a jail door closing).

Fact is that once a Justice dons the robes they are pretty much independent. Byron White ended up a conservative Justice, and JFK appointed him!

You are barking up the wrong tree. Have you read the exchange between her and Kennedy in her hearing for the Circuit Court? Read that, for crying out loud.

She said, which is true for EVERY Circuit Court judge, that decisions of the Supreme Court are binding on them. Duh. Of course they are. Only the Ninth Circus (excuse me, Circuit) is in the habit of thumbing their noses at the Supreme Court, and they regularly get slapped down for doing that.

If you hadn't noticed, the Supreme Court is the one where the guys and gals in black robes make the decisions that all the lower courts, including state courts, are obligated to follow. Looks like we're going to get another card-carrying member of the Federalist Society on the Supreme Court. I view that as a hugely positive step.

That's the way they work....if you don't think abortionis the single most important issue in the world and to hell with everything else, you're evil and must be destroyed.

Charming, ain't it?

You are right that there will not be a 5-4 reversal of Roe. There will be a 5-4 reversal of Stenberg. Then Casey. Then Doe-v-Bolton. By the time we try Roe again, there will be 6 or 7 votes against it.

Well, I agree with your sentiment, but respectfully disagree about the "millions." The 2008 election, like the previous 54 or 55 or so (excluding Duh Dole's 1996 nomination fix) and like the elections in 2024 or 2048, will be "the most important election of our lifetime." Any excuse for the principle-be-damned crowd to rationalize one more vote.

The loon idiots are the sheeple who continue to lap up what's thrown in their trough because it has the letters GOP attached to it.

And if you don't believe that, I have two words for you:
