32% of births in N.J. are to immigrant moms

Nearly one-third of all births in New Jersey in 2002 were to immigrant mothers, the most ever, according to a new study that examines how the massive influx of immigrants is transforming communities and posing new challenges for the nation's education and health care systems.

"We've never been here before," said Steve Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington, D.C., think tank that conducted the study. "We're headed into uncharted territory in terms of the size of the second generation."

In New Jersey, immigrants make up 18 percent of the total population and accounted for 31.9 percent of all births in 2002, the study found. By comparison, just 9.6 percent of babies were born to foreign-born mothers in 1970.

Did it ever occur to you to tell native born New Jerseyite women not to have abortions.

Why deport them if they are here illegally?? Well, I for one don't believe taxpayers should be forced to pay for people that aren't supposed to be in this country just so THEY can have a better life. If they are breaking our laws, then they shouldn't be rewarded for it.

Illegal Aliens are not immigrants...

Their children should not be given citizenship PERIOD!

Taxpayers paying for the nation's demise...

How fitting....

One if by land
Two if by sea
Three when they come
From Washington D.C.

I have a family member who is a public school teacher in north Jersey. Every single one of her students is present in the U.S. illegaly and none speak English. Imagine being a U.S. citizen or legal resident and having to send your child to that school

Which is rare the way abortion is running rampant in this country.

The methodology of the study seems sound: they looked at hospital birth records. It's not a census or estimate. And while there are women who give birth without seeking any medical help, I doubt their numbers are large enough to skew the study.

The group who did the study supports less immigration, so I doubt they have any desire to under-report the numbers.

As long as they're legal immigrants. I don't think that there's a problem. The only problem I see are the ignorant jerks that can't tell the differance between legal and illegal.

Hmm instead of waiting for a court to change, why don't you get off your duff and say to native born American women that abortion is wrong, instead of denigrating those immigrants who do not have abortions.

I think (and I could be totally wrong- I'm only peripherally aware of these things) that California just cut out the bi-lingual education, like teaching classes in Spanish and introducing English later.

But, you always need ESL teachers for students who learn English at school whether it be additional tutoring or full-immersion programs.

" being that the current state of the law allows LEGAL immigrants to receive the aforementioned services"

Which law are you talking about. Federal law prohibits even legal immigrants from receiving any type welfare until they've been here for five years except WIC. You know why WIC is the exception? Because the children are American citizens, just as much as you and me.

These children are the future of America. They are helping to replace some of the forty million Americans who have been aborted since Roe V. Wade. They will be funding your Social Security, fighting your wars to keep you free, and driving the economic engine that will provide jobs for your children and grandchildren.

Do you support the U.S. Constitution? All people born in America are American citizens and enjoy the same right and privileges as all other citizens.

Your opposition to American children being allowed to attend public schools just because their parents are immigrants is abhorrent to everything conservatives and patriotic Americans stand for.

For you to want to deny these American children an education, basic health care, minimum nutrition and the same safety nets that your children have is unconscionable.

"Nationwide, the researchers found, 22.7 percent of all births in 2002 were to foreign-born women. The study also found that the mothers were increasingly likely to be in the United States illegally and lack a high school education, two factors experts say make it more difficult for their children to succeed in the U.S."

So many future voters to woo. Is it no wonder that neither party will do anything to curb this tidel wave of illegal immigration? We have to take our country back before its too late.

For the bleeding hearts who state "I am for Illegals," have you watched the news lately?

Seems OUR BORDERS are allowing plenty of ILLEGALS to enter (and haveillegal babies) and who knows how many
of the ILLEGALS are TERROISTS?

Did you see what happened in London? Its called OPEN BORDERS BREEDS TERROISTS! (Besides breeding like rabbits.)yeh yeh yeh I know what a racist statement.

And know what, quite frankly I am sick and tired of picking up the bill for these illegals to keep breeding.
Every time I have to make out the check to the IRS for $250 a month I wonder how many kids are being born on my money.

I am not writing about individual cases, but the rates of intermarriage overall. Some groups assimilate well, others don't. That is no more up for debate than rates of unwed births, rates of home ownership, rates of completion of secondary education, etc.

BTW, who has used Chinatowns as proof of inability to assimilate? Thomas Sowell has used it as an example to the contrary.
