Specter and Hatch just said (CSPAN tape from one hour ago) 'others' will be coming out of the Judiciary Committee.

Hey, this is one time I hope to be wrong.

Did Hume say that Graham and Dewine would support the nuclear option (not just vote for cloture) for Saad and Myers?

Frist and then Graham to be on Sean Hannity soon.

I'm surprised McInsane isn't going to be on Hannity, Hannity is always smooching on his backside. Today I suspect he wouldn't be, hence he won't be on.

" He was also a Silver Star winner for his service to his country, as well as a POW who turned down an offer to return early in a show of unity to other POWs held at the infamous Hanoi Hilton (hardly Benedict Arnold). Incidentally, have you ever worn the uniform of the United States? If not, why so cavalier about those who have earned (by service and by the election of those constituents who believe in them) to be called statesmen?

Benedict Arnold was a celebrated war hero for his country before becoming a traitor. McCain was a fine war hero. He's a terrible Senator, a petty and vindictive loser, and a disloyal Republican.

Graham is saying it now on CSPAN2. Not specifically on Saad and Meyers though.

Somebody else said, "This is the essence of the agreement: The Republicans have agreed not to ban the fillibuster -- as long the Democrats don't use it."

And Lindsey Graham's discussion just now, on CSPAN-2, sounded just like that. He won't vote to change the rules in the 109th Congress. But if the DEM's filibuster a judge, then he reserves the right to vote to cause the Senate to vote on the nomination.

Graham and Dewine would vote to end the filibuster (whether it violates the agreement or not) to bring the nominations to the floor--as Frist originally planned to do today.

Then what was the point of them making this deal with the Dems??

The Dems will hold Graham and Dewine to this contract/agreement or hammer them as the party of liars

I posted earlier on the thread the ratings via National Abortion Rights and the senators. You are absolutely correct. I feel sorry for Graham and those who laid down with the devil...they have no clue....until 2006.

This is a chance to start over and reinstate the Senate tradition of parties working together. But ...

How in the world can they keep trotting out that garbage? What does that mean? That they won't revisit this topic again until after the mid-terms? Till after Bush is out of office?

Did ya'll hear what Lindsay Graham just said---he said that the dems had to live up to their part of the bargain or the const. option would be used...

BUT, his description of what constitutes a "foul" by the other side, is if ONE OF THE SEVEN CALLS FOR A FILIBUSTER--

He didn't say if any dem calls for a filibuster, just those seven, which means that Schumer, Reid, Kennedy, Clinton, Kerry, any of them can call for a filibuster and it wouldn't trigger an abuse, according to Graham....

OH, YEAH, THAT IS A GOOD DEAL.........

I would agree. McCain's actions during Vietnam were honorable and noteworthy. Being a genuine hero, however, does not buy you a pass on all subsequent behavior for the rest of your life.

Yes. we tend to see things thru our own eyes, but given the fact that the Dems would have ahd to VOte for Cloture anyway, and then Could have just dragged out each nomination, how do we know this wasnt the 7 democrats reigning in their Majority?

Sorry that not all of us Republicans are zealots of the first order. Unfortunately for you bomb-throwers out there, you need us in order to govern. And we know it.

True. But you are not even a splinter party without the Conservatives. And the moderates are tossing the Conservatives overboard. Sooner or later, Conservatives have to be given a place at the table. Our only role to date is to give money, and (every two years) to walk precincts and vote. Oh, our other role is to Shut Up in between so we don't rock the boat. Not gonna last much longer.

Let me run this little bit of opinion by you. This is all about ABORTION.

That's one issue of many. The crapweasel Senators don't want to make unpopular social decisions. They like being able to blame the judges for the laws the judges implement. Abortion, end-of-life, welfare, immigration, religious expression, freedom of speech ... any issue you can name, there is pressure to centralize control and reduce individual freedom.

The Republicans have agreed not to ban the fillibuster -- as long the Democrats don't use it."

And the reality is the Republicans cannot ban the fillibuster UNLESS the rats use it. This is a face saving surrender which based on the reactions of a lot of smart conservatives is very well done.

Graham and DeWine both just appeared on C-Span2, and they both said that if the democrats violate the deal and filibuster people that they shouldn't, both Graham and DeWine will vote for the nuclear option.

Graham also points out that not every nominee gets confirmed in ANY senate.

And he says that the three now up (Owen, Pryor, Brown) will get STRONG bi-partisan support.

He also said that being conservative is NO LONGER an extraordinary reason.

So at least for Graham and DeWine, if the democrats filibuster because the judges are conservative they will declare the deal broken and vote for the nuclear option.

I don't think we can pass final judgment on this until after we see the final votes on the next 9 justices. I believe that 8 will get votes, and one (Saad) will either get a vote and fail, or will be withdrawn.

We will get strong votes for Brown, Pryor, Owens. We will also get the three michigan justices, and one other. Myers I think is the test case for democrats. From what I heard Graham say, while Myers is not "part of" the guarantee", he will get a vote. So I think the idea is that if they declare Myers is "extraordinary", the republicans will bail on the deal.

Anyway, that's my take.

That thought is enough to gag a maggot especially since Boxer has been whispering sweet nothings in his ear and saying how much she adores him. BARF!!!!!!!!!! Watch out IF "SHEETS" is off for a week or two and comes back fully botoxed like Mara Liasson. I agree Graham was rolled by his sweetie pie Mccain and McCain was rolled by the dried up old klansman.
