"...he received nearly 70% of the vote last time that he ran and has consistently vowed that he is a "Goldwater Republican." He was also a Silver Star winner for his service to his country, as well as a POW who turned down an offer to return early in a show of unity to other POWs held at the infamous Hanoi Hilton (hardly Benedict Arnold). Incidentally, have you ever worn the uniform of the United States? If not, why so cavalier about those who have earned (by service and by the election of those constituents who believe in them) to be called statesmen?"

John McCain may have done something admirable 30-odd years ago. I guess he got it out of his system, though, because he's been nothing but an unhinged, egotistic, RAT-loving snake since.

(McCain would not run for re-election in 2012 due to mental incapacity).

George Allen, on Laura Ingraham, sounds totally disgusted by what the 14 did...

He said they had this all planned and the 14 blew it up...

Did he say what he is going to do?

President Bush live on Fox...will he comment on judges?

Thank you! I changed from CSPAN2, and yes, he's going to address judges.

Starting remarks on social security, but all cables are expecting him to comment on this.

Senator Allen on Laura's show said, there's no reason to be happy this morning. He said, Senator Reed got his scalps. So far I've heard only Senator Allen and Senator Grassley accurately express what happened yesterday.

I don't think Senator Frist caved or weakened. He got the shaft from McCain and Company. The only good I see in this is that sooner rather than later, the Democrats will make monkeys of that republican crew by claiming "exceptional circumstances" on all President Bush's judicial nominees.

PMSNBC, however, is sticking with the President.

Well there are many here saying Meyer and Saad don't have majority support.

I had heard rumors that Saad would go down, and that it wouldn't have to do with "ideology." I had not heard anything about Meyer (although I thought is was Meyers). Maybe not.

But that brings up a couple of thoughts. If Saad has something questionable in his background, why would the President continue to support him? And if Saad was not going to get a majority, why would the Dems object to a floor vote? They could kill him once and for all.

It's a Byzantine situation, huh?

Wow, apparently there's a lot of Kool-Aid going around in here. Let's stop with the Area 51-esque ridiculousness about John McCain running as Hillary's VP candidate or even not being Republican. Sorry that not all of us Republicans are zealots of the first order. Unfortunately for you bomb-throwers out there, you need us in order to govern. And we know it.

- First of all, Bill Frist is just about the worst majority leader ever. Why? Because he doesn't lead. Frist has been in the Senate long enough to know damn well that a deal was going to get brokered on this issue. That's just politics. But instead of insuring that he was at the table, Frist's arrogance and own personal desires to be president got in the way of him doing his job. As a result, he was cut out of the dealmaking completely. If Frist wanted to talk like George Allen, he never should've run for a leadership position. People expect leaders to get things done. Allen can pontificate on Imus all he wants: HE HAS NOTHING ELSE TO DO. Someone needs to remind Frist that follow and get out of the way are the only two options he has left, and neither is very presidential.

- Frist should've brought this issue to a head months ago. He completely lost control of the issue through his perpetual hand-wringing and non-leadership. If he was going to go nuclear, February would've been a great time to do it. But here's one for all you nutjob conspiracy theorists out there: maybe this is the outcome Frist really wanted. It preserves the institution while still allowing Frist to keep his hands clean. Many on this board clearly don't think Frist did anything wrong. He can have his cake and eat it too.

- Frist stuck himself out on the ledge in an attempt to court social conservatives and got blown off the roof by a strong wind. The overwhelming majority of America is not as conservative as those voters Frist is courting. Fact is, most of America says cut the deal and move on. Americans like compromise.

- There were six other Republican senators at that press conference besides John McCain. It's not like McCain acted in a vacuum. Those 14 senators now have more power than either Bill Frist or Harry Reid when it comes to judicial appointments. Not a bad deal for those senators, huh? They're going to be the ones to pick our next Supreme Court nominee. Alberto Gonzales might be as conservative a choice as you're going to get.

The reason the moderates won the day is because Bill Frist gave them five months to coalesce. You can scream about McCain all you want, but the guy you should be hanging today is the Majority Leader.

Because they ain't sure. I don't think we realize just how unstable the Dems are right now.

That's why they looked so radiant last night. They thought the Pub 'mods' took their necks from out of the gallows, but today they are getting a reality check.

Once this sets in, debate later in the day should be interesting, don't you think?

Graham saying even Repub Sen's will vote against some of these nominees...

That is exactly what I thought last night these RINOs would do.

I don't think for a minute that any of the subject nominees who are potentially filibuster-proof will sail through confirmation in the Senate. Nobody can trust any of the signatories to this agreement to vote to confirm the nominees. Sickeningly disloyal conduct by Graham and the others.

The President is in a Town very close to where I am. The TV is still the best way to see him and enjoy a cup of coffee, too. A friend of mine did get to shake his hand.

Most politicians don't realize that things are different now with the Internet (ie FR, bloggers), talk radio, and FNC.

They will learn the hard way, I'm afraid.
