A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

Yeah, me too.....the balloons and cake etc. You may be in bed now too MB. I'm really late getting here tonight. Went to son's and kept Em tonight so her Mom and Dad could go "shoot" the school dance. Those are fun shoots. Does JK ever do any of those? This one was at the Middle School. The kids are so awkward and mismatched. Girls head and shoulders taller than the boys. All trying to act grownup and in imitating adults they exaggerate everything.

Thank you for the belated wishes. Oh, today I got a Mother's Day card from KET. It made me cry. She is like a daughter. she found a card that said, "You make me feel like family." I'm going to tell her that I thought she was family.

Oh yes, we've been shooting the high school proms, winter formals and backwards dance (Sadie Hawkins), seems like forever. LOL. In fact, next Saturday night we shoot the Jr. Sr. Prom.

Tonight, my groom of 38 years is out photographing little ballerinas at a dance studio. He should be home any minute. This happens every anniversary because it is always the same time of year that we are contracted to do the shoot. With the sports photographs, dance studios, high school dances and senior portraits, I think that sometimes Jeff feels like he has photographed every kid in the county...twice! LOL. But, we thank God for the business. Keeps our internet connection going and food on the table. :-)

She is a special blessing in your life, and, I have no doubt, you are in hers also. :-)

LOL. Those are all the things that son photographs too. He is most famous for his babies though. He has gained quite a reputation with his newborn portraits. He uses black and white a lot. Dresses the parents in black so all you see are the flesh parts. Baby feet, baby hands, Mom w/baby, Daddy's hands holding baby. Those are artwork, the location shoots are bread and butter, as you say.

Happy Birthday, LadyX! Hope it's a great day for you.

As a gift here are TWO "familiar red square, green circle, and blue triangle" graphics. I understand a certain person in her stinginess only gave you one. :-)

Where IS the T Man, anyway? I am sure I have wandered off the path of excellence, making one careless mistake after another. But, how would I know for sure without him here holding me to a higher standard? I miss his critiques. :-(

Hi Mama_Bear. Sorry I've been lax in my critiques, but there comes a time when one just throws up his hands realizing it's a lost cause. LOL!

She has been a great blessiing to me. She is going through a rough time right now with Brian being in Bagdad.

Well, I'm going to call it a night. I hope I can spend time here tomorrow for Maggie's birthday party. Thanks again for the pledge graphic. I love it. I am so looking forward to meeting you. Goodnight and God bless.

Get Off My Back!

Read:
Romans 7:14-25

Who will deliver me from this body of death? -Romans 7:24

Bible In One Year: Psalm 79-81

cover Roman emperors saw torture as a legitimate way to put muscle and teeth into their laws. They were known to bind the body of a murder victim to the back of his killer. Under penalty of death, no one was allowed to release the condemned criminal.

This terrible practice calls to mind the words of the apostle Paul in Romans 7. It's as if he felt that something dead was strapped to him and accompanied him wherever he went.

As children of God, we long for purity and holiness, yet at times we feel helplessly bound to the "dead body" of our flesh. Even though we are new creatures in Christ and we know that the physical body itself is not evil, the tendency to sin is always with us. This causes us to cry out with the apostle, "Who will deliver me from this body of death?" (v.24).

Paul answered his own cry in chapter 8. He said that through the forgiveness of Christ we are freed from eternal condemnation (v.1). Then by the strength of the indwelling Holy Spirit we are empowered to do the will of God (v.9). And someday in heaven these mortal bodies of ours will be redeemed (v.23). We are not hopelessly bound by the flesh.

Praise God, Christ broke the power of sin! We can serve Him in newness of life. -Mart De Haan

At times sin's power within grows strong,
Too strong, it seems, for us to bear;
But Jesus says, "Look unto Me.
I broke sin's power, so don't despair." -D. De Haan

To overcome sin, starve the old nature and feed the new.
