Since when is it a crime to speak up for one's ideals and remind those in power, and specifically, those judge(s) [who recently passed a horrible death sentence on an innocent American] that we still have the right to free speech?

Bravo to Tom Delay to speak the TRUTH as an affirmation to life! His words were not threatening - lest those who fear the truth are threatened by it, and want to bury it along with Terry Schiavo!

Review of this case, and the judicial handling of it is EXACTLY what is needed. Tom Delay should be applauded for his willingness to speak up and champion a cause so crucial to all Americans, their families, and everyone!

The Schiavo case was DISPICABLY handled, and other members of Congress should come forward to put the review of this case high on their agendas.

Thank You Tom Delay for your steadfastness in representing the conscience of the American people! God Bless You!

I support any action by any political leader who tries to bring some justice to the ones responsible for killing of Terri.

The Judiciary has been quietly usurping the powers of Congress for years, and it brings us to this sorry state. The fact that DeLay was so broadly attacked for his statements tells me that the Democrats, the mainstream media and most of the courts are actually ignorant of the Constitution... that, or they simply don't care. Congress HAS the power to rein in the courts, but do they have the will? That is the only question here. I'm told that once our Navy was a navy of "wooden ships and iron men"...Now we need iron men in Congress to act, and not be cowed by a bunch of libs in black robes.

The whole subject of balance of powers needs to be raised. I suspect that Terri Schiavo's death may prove a turning point in our history, exactly like Dred Scott. In both cases, the courts went too far in a gesture of imperial hubris, and were reined back as a result.

Pray that it doesn't take a civil war to restore justice this time around.

Hmm, this may go nowhere though. Dick Cheney is quoted in the New York Post today that he isn't in favor of this. On another issue, Cheney said he backed efforts to help save Terri Schiavo's life, but strongly disagreed with House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas), who wants retribution against judges who blocked restoration of her feeding tube. "I don't think that's appropriate . . . There's a reason why judges get lifetime appointments," he said. Are we seeing a DeLay v. Rove lineup in the future? And what does the President? If what the President wants is action on Social Security, might he want Congress to pay more attention to that issue?

I agree, the Judiciary has become tyrants.

This is supposed to be a nation ruled by the consent of the governed, not governed by black robed elitist with no repercussions for their actions.

Bravo for DeLay.

DeLay wants panel to review role of courts

EGPWS revised statement:

Tom Delay is willing to risk his political career, take the abuse of the liberal media, and do what he was sent to Washington to do.

Let 'em try. They'll do that anyway. The way I look at it, we have less than two years. Nothing is guaranteed after that. The evildoers will go all out to get rid of Tom Delay and overturn the conservative majority in the House and Senate. They'll stop at nothing, and they may succeed. So we need to go all out in the time we have control of Presidency, House, and Senate. Nuclear option, SS reform, Tax reform, REAL conservative social legislation, and reigning in the out of control judiciary. If we can do that, we will have won even if we lose control of Congress (temporarily).

The libs and media will hate us, but they hate us anyway. THis is war. Let's get to it.

Cheney has it dead wrong. We do not have, nor do we need an untouchable legal "priest class". All three co-equal branches of government derive their power from teh consent of the governed, as expressed by their collective elected representatives.

He may be wrong, but will DeLay stand up to him? And will the President get behind DeLay's actions? I'm concerned that the White House may not be interested in following this issue up the same way that DeLay is, and perhaps may use some influence to limit or even squelch it.

Which means he will be ridden out of town on a rail, with Republicans doing a lot of the damage.

That would be unfortunate. The President SHOULD be the leader on this, but if he can't or won't he should get out of the way and let Tom Delay get the job done.

I'm not bashing President Bush, but Mr Delay seems to be the only Republican with a backbone in Washington right now.
