Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
I just don't feel right not voting...I voted for Edwards to keep Duke out, but held my nose while doing it.
I like that reply!
Just in case you hadn't heard, hubby has been kissing someone else for 10 years and has 2 kids. He was dating soon after her "collapse".
Regarding her grandmother's funeral luncheon - If I ever go like that just let me go. Don't leave me there. I don't want to be kept alive on a machine.
Last night, on MSNBC, Michaeil Shiavo stated this:
"At the grandmother's funeral luncheon, Terri sadi she didn't want to be kept alive on ANY LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM"
System?
Strange phrase to include FUTURE life support SYSTEMS/
eXCUSE ME, SPIDER, BUT AT THE TIME TERRI ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL AND SEVERAL YEARS LATER, food and water, was not LISTED IN FLORIDA LAW LIFE SUPPORT "SYSTEMS'
Note Shiavos brother was very careful to word "life support systems", to make sure and FUTURE i.e. food/water is included in his statement, when at that time, 1988 it was UNHEARD OF AND NOT LAW, food/water in the LEGAL listing of life support!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cannot you consider that fact?
It was the lawyers and doctors that allowed Nazis in Germany to euthanize "worthless eaters", handicapped, disabled people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not a bad idea, but keep your options open by voting in Republican primaries first. Then if the GOP offers a bad choice, sit out the general election or vote for a minor candidate if one is on the ballot. This scenario would envision your skipping quite a few races on most ballots. In this way, you might be able to get the Republicans' attention and still have some voice in the electoral process.
I found an interesting article on the funding behind the "right to die" movement with this tidbit on how Florida has been a target of theirs for decades.
"On its[sic] web site, in a section titled 'A Historical perspective,' Choice in Dying lists among its legal achievements the 1968 introduction of the first living will statute in Florida. That proposal - which was sponsored and reintroduced over a period of five years by Representative Walter Sackett - provided for removal of care from severely retarded persons in state hospitals.
"After the San Francisco Examiner reported Sacketts estimate that, with the bills passage, '$5 billion could be saved over the next half century if the states mongoloids were permitted merely to succumb to pneumonia,' the National Association for Retarded Children passed a resolution vowing to oppose it and any similar legislation. Subsequent living will legislation was less inflammatory, and by the 1980s, Choice in Dying had shed the radical image of its founders and was firmly ensconced in the mainstream."

Again?! Oh Lord!
Father in heaven,
May your Angels surround Your Precious Child Terri defending her against every attack, defeating any who would hurt her.
Send your Living Water to Terri, guard every organ, sustain her by Your Power and Grace! Restore Terri to her family.
Even in this moment, You are well able to do it! Move your servants Jeb and George Bush to compassion...agape love that will not be denied.
Bless every phone call, every fax, every email that would see You will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Make us strong to fight. May the enemies of Terri and of God be brought down to defeat.
To You be all honor, glory and praise forever more.
In Jesus' Name.
Amen.
Actually, he was dating BEFORE and after her "collapse."
Let's just focus on what YOU would want. If you were in Terri's condition, What would you want to have done to you? Would you prefer the stomach pump, the nutritional slurry and the diapers or Heaven?
Unless we agree on what WE would want, how can we know what we should do for Terri under the Golden Rule (Mt 7:12)?
Let me start. For me (not anyone else, just me), were I in Terri's condition (howsoever we might each describe it), I would definitely want to go to Heaven and be with the Lord. Not even a close call.
How about the rest of you?
Not only has their daughter been killed in a cruel manner before their eyes, it has been done on the most holy week of the entire year.
I refuse to accept this as a coincidence.
"Where there's life...there's hope."
Terri
If he hadn't done the press conference with the DCFS, I might have a smidgeon of respect left for him..... a barking dog with no bite.
I think I finally have come to the realization that Terri is just not that big of an issue for Jeb, congress, President Bush to really do what needs to be done. I hear of contempt of court and constitutional crisis. And I see a bunch of cowardly polititions.
That poster had a lot of information, and I think was onsite, sad of banning, he msut be so stressed that made maybe a bad statement.
Looks like banned, not suspended.
Does anyone know what the status of the latest appeal to the 11th?
If I'm really angry I try to let it go. But if I can keep my cool, I post a response although I probably won't change the posters thoughts, there may be someone reading who hadn't heard the point or seen the link or has just plain swallowed foolishness and the logic may strike a resonant chord. It's usually not for the other poster but victims of their twisted logic and false info.
The Judge did NOT order Terri's life support be removed. His order didn't even state "feeding tube." He ordered "no nutrient nor hydration."
