Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
I'm getting there. Slow but sure.
Last post. Honest. ;)
I'm trying to leave...I really am. :)
I did hear that he said that. He is a really insensitive guy.
Actually came here as Goodie D a few years ago while looking up a list of conservative actors... found FR accidentally from a search engine.. I came, I saw, I loved it.. was here about a year or so, got all neo Luddite for some reason, gave up my computer for a year, got rid of all my email and other accounts... then got tired of not having my "instant encyclopedia of information".. got my computer back....but had to register under another handle because I couldn't remember my password and my old email addy was dead... and here I am! I've just taken the Terri thing particularly hard.. God directed me to this fight I guess...
Creepy, too.
Closing the lid on things..
good night.
praying for for innocent Terri.
TERRI WE LOVE YOU!!
If there was a living will, all of this media attention would not be here. There wasn't, so the next best thing was the statements of the next of kin, Michael. Terri's family opposed his will, so they went to court. The Schindlers had two people testify about Terri's wishes at the age of 11-12, while the Schiavos had three people testify about Terri's wishes as an adult.
Michael Schiavo stood to gain his wife's lawsuit money when she died, if he was her guardian. The Schindlers stood to gain that money if they were her guardians after they convinced Michael to "move on" and marry someone else and let Terri die while they were her guardians. Sounds like money-grubbing vultures to me.
In the same situation as Michael, I would do the same thing. The whole issue is about the patient's final end of life desire. Terri said she didn't want to be kept alive by artificial means, the way she is now. There's no question that she would want to die by removal of life support. The ending is good because it honors her wishes.
To quote an old Harry Belafonte song, "Ok..I believe you..."
I remember when we had those conservative actor lists going. I think we started those around the time the war started...
goodnight mj.
nite you!
well thank you for identifying yourself...buh bye now!
How much plutonium do you get exposed to?
You said it first.
Oh, and who are the three witnesses that say Terri said that? Are their last names all Schaivo?
Babe, get a clue. 3 Schiavos testified. They were talking about a ventilator not a feeding tube. It was a casual remark that most people make. There is reasonable doubt.
'night
"How much plutonium do you get exposed to?"
Now, now...it's silly to say he's been exposed to plutonium...
it's obviously airplane glue.
How dare you call her parents money grubbing vultures. What do you really know about them or Terri's situation?
It sounds like you've learned everything you know from watching Larry King.
