Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
As I depart this hour of Vigil, O Lord, let others come to stand watch over our beloved Terri, that she might not be alone unto the time of her rescue, or until she is ushered into Your Glorious Presence ...
Did everyone know that Bobby gave a press conference after Felos?
He called Felos a liar about how Terri looked. Challenged Felos to let a camera in the room.
Where was the media? Or did I miss it?
"Wasting one's vote" ------> guilty of saying such.
My eyes have been opened. Although I do not see, in the foreseable future, any vote I may cast would do any immediate good (i.e., odds of actually electing that person), by "wasting my vote," I am: 1) empowering leaders to leave other parties to join one that represents strong ethical views/patriotic principals and/or 2) sending a signal to those who will not leave the Republican party to take strong note of the direction in which the people are moving....hopefully causing them to change their views. (But I don't know if that would ever happen).
She's not alone, sweetheart, don't worry...we're standing vigil with you.
But, yes. This appears to be as frustrating and fruitless as you've described. I'm horrified that much of the opposition can be found right here at this board that's been such a big part of my life for so long.
I don't know if it would ever happen, either, but it's worth a try.
My husband said the exact same thing. I can understand how one would feel that way. On the other hand, there is no possible way to get her out of there with all those cops. It would just be a symbolic gesture at this point. Then Terri would die with her murderer salivating over her while her family sat in jail.
Hey Freepertwo, I am at my parents tonight and have been talking to me dad about this. He says JEB's career is over and that he has lost all respect for him and George! I thought we could trust when we needed, I must say we can't! This day will go down in history and as long as I am alive I will teach my children to never trust a politician, not even a Conservative one, that to lean only on GOD. I'm so hurt and angry I want to shout it to everyone!
Hey Polly, I'm no longer a Republican anymore, just a Conservative, a real Conservative! I don't even think I can vote anymore after this as there is not one person I can truly say I want in office anywhere! I'm ashamed of the USA!
When this is over, I wonder if you wonderful people who have prayed so diligently for Terri would like to start a prayer ring somewhere on the net...even a private message board where we can gather to pray for needs, for the continuation of care for Terri's family, and that justice will be done in this case. Perhaps we can give one another our emails and simply communicate en masse in email. Let me know.
The Constitution party has a fantastic platform and they are worthy of support if you want to keep abreast of what's going on in the Bush administration. They do say a'plenty about that.
However, when push comes to shove you wield your greatest power as a citizen at the local level by supporting decent people for office and possibly getting involved yourself. At the next levels - DO NOT burn your money by giving to the Republican party in general. It's been infiltrated and your money may go to the wrong people. There will always be enough sheeple keeping both parties financially fed.
GIVE directly to the men who you KNOW follow constitutional principles and cherish life. Help them and you'll be active in doing what is right.
My mere opinions, but based upon some experience.
My question: why didn't Bush veto this change, to begin with? Does he not read things? Why would he think it's okay to withhold nutrition/hydration from anybody?
Halls, no kidding, check out the Constitution Party...they are Christ based and Constitution based...a very appealing combination. And they're gaining in recognition, especially with Christians.
As am I. I also find it incredulous about so many FReeper's pro-homosexual stance.
There, indeed, will be a lot of handwashing this next week. For many, the stain will never come off, but those will find ways of covering it.
I hope the very good moderators won't mind me saying so aloud, but after this FR is history to me, along with the Republican party. But I don't want to lose the friends I've met here and would appreciate keeping in contact.
Also, I have been doing this for years now (at the suggestion of my father): vote NOT TO RETAIN ANY JUDGE on EVERY BALLOT unless you know that that judge is a good, honorable, follow-the-Constitution judge. Vote 'em out.
It is very important that we teach our children to stand for God and the constitution. If we turn our children away from careers as lawyers, judges, politicians, etc... they will have won and will rule over us. We need Godly men and women in these positions.
He should have declared that any police officers who tried to prevent DCF from carrying out their legal duties would be deemed to be in a state of insurection, and sent in the National Guard to deal with them.
