I'm afraid you will never be able to convince me that Jeb and the President did all they could...sorry. My question: why didn't Bush veto this change, to begin with? Does he not read things? Why would he think it's okay to withhold nutrition/hydration from anybody?

I just saw a clip of Jeb on The Capital Gang where he delivered the news that he "could not" intervene. It was the first time that I had seen that. It was not his finest hour. I think he has lost many future votes because of his failure to act though I understand the argument that he had no power to intervene.

Why would he think it's okay to withhold nutrition/hydration from anybody?I still feel it's because he's covering his brother's rear due to Jeb signing that new hospice ruling. In '99, Jeb signed into law a statute stating that it was ok to withdraw feeding tubes. If Jeb saved Terri, the media would crucify him. Of course, saving Terri was Jeb's only hope of the presidency, so he's a lame duck as of today.
