Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
That link takes you to current law, I believe. But you just need to go to the year 1997.....there are no laws available online at that site prior to that year.
Thanks! I'll make a good FReeper, yet! LOL!
I just got so mad. Jeb is as culpable as Pontius Pilate.
sickened by Jeb Bush's copout
and I don't know what life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness means
black is white and white is black
You, too!
I HOPE! Thanks!
When they told her that, they were going on the word of the Congressional Leaders that they would receive de novo review, and that any Federal Judge would restore the feeding tube so the review would have time to take place. Santorum said it, Frist said it, Delay said it, heck, even Tom Harkin said it. In fact, given the subsequent events, that law never had a prayer to accomplish its stated purpose once it got to the Judicial branch. But they promised them, then they promised Terri. You say the help never came. Agreed. But no one promised them or Terri that the President would have to fight a likely shooting war in Pinellas County, FL, with Marshalls or troops to overcome Greer's goons and literally pull Terri out of the hospice by force of arms. No one promised anybody THAT! Remember, the promise came from the predicted working of a law that never, ever had a chance of working. The President signed it, but it originated in the Congress, and those Leaders promised the Schindlers, and they promised Terri.
This too was Easter? oh my goodness...
I'm listening to Sean right now. I think he still thinks that Jeb and the rest were stuck and that they really tried! BAH!!! I think in the end he will change his mind! Sean is good at seeing though this stuff and saying what it is and I can't wait till he does!
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies, and Pinellas Park, Fla., police officers arrest 10-year-old Joshua Heldreth, of Charlotte, N.C., for trespassing on Woodside Hospice property in Pinellas park, Fla. Heldreth was attempting to bring Terri Schiavo a glass of water.
That's a possibility. Not all lawyers keep copies of Living Wills. They are not required to be filed with the Courts, either, at the time of signing. Many lawyers do keep copies, but that also doesn't guarantee they have them...things do get lost or burned or misplaced, etc. (Or, attorneys die....and if they didn't keep their records/files in proper order, like they should....additional reasons exist for misplacement, etc.)
and yet other constitutional lawsmiths said.. yes, he can act legally... so I asked Jeb: "do you remember Rosa Parks? what she did was illegal.. do you remember our own country's fight for freedom from England? THAT was illegal..."
all it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do NOTHING>
"Just following laws (read: orders) say W and the Governor."
Exactly... remember everyone.. every single thing done in Nazi Germany was LEGAL!
I'm struggling with that one, too. While I certainly back our President in his Iraq decision, the discrepency here is pretty amazing.
Well that certainly explains Soros' involvement in this particular case. He has the philosophy, and he has the deep pockets -- which are apparently stuffed with judges and law enforcement.
Excellent Beach Babe! That is probably exactly what mine will say!
God's will, God's time... not our own.
Of course. You save a life if you can, even if there's a law to be broken in the process, even if you're specifically warned not to, even if your job is on the line, and you're impeached and men revile you. Jeb Bush knows this, knows his moral duty as a Christian. We are left to certain distasteful conclusions about this good (Ger)man.
Oh this is huge Freepertwo! I'm sorry, but I will never forget this! And I am going to make sure personally that our suppose leaders don't either!
By the way, I just e-mail Sean Hannity to go read the article at theempirejournal!
