US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)

Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro

This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).

The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they don’t want to be known as the party that killed Terri.

This is American history happening before your eyes.

Someone please explain to me: if the legislation passes and the Schindlers are permitted to bring the case before a federal judge, what is to prevent the judge from making the same kind of idiotic determination that Judge Greer made? This is no guarantee that Terri will be saved--is it? Am I missing something or am I right that the celebrating is premature?

Shibumi, translate, please.....:)

MORS VINCET OMNIA is my guess at the Latin for "Death Conquers All"
My guess would be: MORS OMNIUM VICET Partly from VENI, VIDI, VICI -- Caesar famous saying of "I came, I saw, and I Conquered", but then I may be in the wrong tense... Past Tense for "VICI".

Thus, the particular phraseology of the constitution of the United States confirms and strengthens the principle, supposed to be essential to all written constitutions, that a law repugnant to the constitution is void; and that courts, as well as other departments, are bound by that instrument.

Dear Lady, you can repeat your opinion over and over all you like, it does not change the fact that we are a system of Checks and Balances. I know it upsets you, but the Judiciary is NOT the final authority. It also is a fallible human system. For example. In your world, the Dread Scott decision or the decision that ruled an Income tax unconstitutional or Plessy vrs Fergeson would be the final words on a variety of issues. As our history teaches, they were not. The Judiciary is NOT the final authority on any issue. They, like the Executive and the Legislative ARE subject to oversite.

Now it is:

This American history has happened before your eyes.

Let us all remember we may have allies up above like Ronald Reagan who may be closer to the Almighty.

Randall Terry says Felos has a motion to dismiss ready as soon as a federal judge gets the order. Or a restraining order....I forget which one. A few tense hours are ahead, I think

To: who knows what evil?

Most chose Barabbas, as well.

$$$$

In my church this morning the Gospel was read with several voices. We, the congregation, were Peter - denying the Lord, the crowd mocking Christ and calling for Barabbas, and other equally terrible things.

Saying those words, as part of a 'mob,' was chilling, and very instructive.

No, M & M is a fishy case. Marshall grabed power under the guise of modesty, claiming the court had no jurisdiction. And ever seince then, judicial dorkwads (to use a term of art) have been messing with the American republic. That's my legal opinion.

No you are right but it is a victory in a larger war and we should celebrate it as such.

I would think that any federal judge would at least have to study the new law for a couple days before declaring it unconstitutional. Let's hope the GOP has found some way to refer this case to the right kind of federal judge...one who won't declare it unconstitutional.
