"Barbara Weller has been with Terri all day and Barbara states that Teri communicated she wanted to live."
What form of communication?

If I remember correctly, "Judge" Greer also ordered that she receive no nourishment by mouth. I would assume that would include drinks of water.

What form of communication? Well if she didn't use King James English it doesn't count. /sarcasm

So Terri's life is not worth living? Smiling and talking, yes, talking with her parents is not worth it?News folks were all excited the other day, because it turns out teenagers value relationships with friends and family more than other things.
I guess Terri and her family aren't allowed to value those things.

As far as I know, his order cannot override Congress.A U.S. congressman cannot overrule Florida law -- he just wishes he could.
To: Mikecan1978
His relationship with his church, for example, has changed. There was theread around here somewhere. Greer used to go to a Baptist church. When this started happening, the church sent a pastoral letter condemning his decision. That had the judge all upset.
To: ContraryMary
He doesn't have to, unless a federal judge orders him to do so. Congress has no jurisdiction.
Congress has jurisdiction over any witness it subpoenas, unless there is a federal law that says otherwise.

Judges are above the law or haven't you heard?
Besides, Congress doesn't have the cajones to confront the courts.

If I remember correctly, "Judge" Greer also ordered that she receive no nourishment by mouth. Yes, at the request of Michael, because he thought she might 'aspirate' something and thereby endanger her life.
Yes, that's the rationale. Amazing huh?

Do you mean that if her mother moved to give her some ice chips or a fudgesicle she would be restrained? This is surreal. The family should let the media in the room to document such things so people can see what is going on.

For the record (having heard a lot of talk today about states rights), the federal government is actually charged with overseeing very few things and one of those is protecting the citizenry. This is NOT a States Rights issue, it is an issue of the right to live.

I'm sitting at work in my office crying. How can they let her starve to death? We don't do that to sick dogs and cats at least they get a needle. My poor cat Fluffy was attacked by a coyote or a fox and in rough shape and I got to hold her while they gave her a needle; it was over in a second.
How long will Terri's mother have to hold her waiting for her to die?????

Newt Gingrich is on Hannity and he is saying that Greer CANNOT ignore a Congressional subpoena and can be held in contempt. I heard it just a little bit differently. Newt said that this particular subpoena has a SHALL provision in it. He stressed that it was the SHALL provision that makes Greer in contempt. I have no idea what that means. Can anyone clarify what a SHALL provision is, and what its implications are in this matter?

That would be the first thing they would look at now. Just those few years ago, husbands (or spouses) didn't come under intense scrutiny like they would now, although consciousness about child abuse was in full swing and medical and legal authorities were on that. When I first started reading up on Terri, nothing had surfaced about possible abuse. Out of the blue it struck me that it sounded like she could have been strangled.
Without solid evidence, I don't want to go down that road because I do not know. Saying something happened doesn't make it so, even though strangulation was once attempted on me.
The trail for that has grown too cold, I fear, even though the statute of limitations would not apply in attempted murder. It would be very difficult to prove at this late date.
