Just now on his radio show...says we taken over by fringe people
"The larger this site has become, the kookier it gets"
-----an exact description of America.
Yeah, but, Rush didn't do it to promote himself. He did it in response to several attacks here.. Hannity clearly pulled a Lucianne Goldberg to feather his own nest. What a putz!
Beats getting one's wife a new dining table for B-Day/Wed-Anniv./V-Day...so I heard on Rush the other day.
I couldn't agree with you more. It's a damned shame that some people enjoy hammering fellow media conservatives on this board. THAT'S one way to alienate friends and influence people! Yeah boy!
I may have missed others, but I've only seen one of the least offensive Rush FREEPER pictures posted to this thread and there were others. And Rush has NOT been all that positive about this site and us.
With that,I agree.
Sabertooth too. Wonder why he was banned from FR. Actually, I'm seeing several FReepers lurking over there at the moment too.
(I finally got curious enough to BugMeNot a login for Hannity's forum. Their moderators seem to have banned a lot of the BugMeNot accounts. Took me about 7 tries.)
Just came across this:

Sean Hannity vs. Free Republic
Sean Hannity apparently took a shot at Free Republic today on his syndicated radio show. I'll admit that I don't get the chance to listen to Sean Hannity's radio program but a short 90 second clip is posted at Free Republic.
The skinny from the clip:
Sean Hannity is promoting his message board and in part compares it to Free Republic. He then tells a story about how years ago he used to follow the Freepers, but left the board (and everyone he knows left it as well) because of "childish, immature personal attacks." He then alludes that the Freepers have a "propensity to eat their own" and is adamant that his bulletin board will not be taken over by "fringe people" I.E. the Freepers.
Yikes.
It has now sparked over 2,000 comments and its not even midnight. Kevin Aylward has promised to give Hannity a chance to respond at CPAC on Thursday if Hannity is in town.
This should get interesting.
Hannity went beyond the pale and since a well known KOOK fringer is posting to his site, what he said was smarmy and disingenuous.
Just don't buy anymore of this GUY'S books!! Don't listen to his Radio Program. He is starting to believe his own propaganda!! LOL
Paraphrasing;
Shawn:There a fringe-types at FreeRepublic, come to my website.
Little difference in my opinion. Why should Shawn not promote his website based on what he thinks is a valid criticism of FreeRepublic...or is that being politically incorrect?
For two and 1/2 days straight,in the middle of the Clinton scandals?
Good manners count. Good for you!
Ip Check please?
I've never heard of this film. When was it made? Is it some kind of cult movie?
The more you review the posted sound bite the more desperate his words sound.
I understand the Freeper part of his talk but his new media thing is old news.
What does he mean here..."And it's it's amazing cause if a republican did it they would!"
"On our is sorta like are Blog, if you will, our message board."
"and it is...the numbers of people that are on there everyday discussing issues...is unbelievable."
"I mean and were just very very glad you found it, you may find the girl or guy of you dream there to."
"om, and what is so fantastic about this this its part of the new media."
"Because you wouldn't hear about this for it not for the bloggers, for talk radio, for the fox news channel."
"No other media organization would even touch this or picked up on this."
"And it's it's amazing cause if a republican did it they would!"
"Yeah No...ca..Years ago I used to om...I used to, a follow the Freepers. Om I doo I haven't been on there of years honestly..."
and then Hannity eats...
It was a chicken shit way to feather his nest. Rush did nothing like that.

IMO, there ARE kooks at FreeRepublic, but probably no more than anywhere else in cyberspace. Most FReepers seem to be reasonable, rational, and downright good folks, and I do enjoy reading the articles and responses to them. But if we are to be honest, we do have our share of extremists.
