STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05

The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

well, I don't think the president's on any meds to expect bi-partisonship...he's just hopelessly optimistic, lol!

"Taxpayer dolars spent wisely or not at all" Let's see him DO it.
He's setting himself up for his own fall.
No mention of deficits except he implicitly wants to keep deficits rising more than the inflation rate. BD.

I sort of wish John Edwards was still in the Senate. Always was a good camera shot when the Presdient slamed lawyers.

He'll thank them for appearances' sake, but he knows exactly where things stand, and he knows how to navigate his way around them. This man has more political savvy in his pinky than the lot of them. "Stupid", indeed.

She's not going to sleep, NautiNurse. She's SEETHING WITH JEOUSLY AND HATRED and nothing had better get in her way to be doing this very same speech in four years.

I would hope the immigration comments are nonexistent until the President addresses that issue. If he doesn't they shouldn't appear here.
Those of you who join me in disagreeing with the President on immigration, let's be reasoned in our approach here.
Thanks.

I think his voice is in rare form. He's more authoritative than I remember him, ever. Agreed. His voice is resonating nicely.

This is going to be one president whose second term is NOT "LAME."
Republicans and Democrats would do well to take note of that.
Gawd, he's smiling! He knows he's kicking butt and taking names!
