Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all. "He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND. No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time. Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance. I respectfully disagree.
Kid Rock has already performed for the troops several times; The GOP "Big Tent" has been fairly open and tolerant of pro-"choice" Pubbies AND RINOs; And it's the "Country Club" Republicans who are THE "moderates" of the party.
The issue at hand is NOT "censorship"; Given Kid Rock's genre of "entertainment," it's rather the question of propriety of such a performer at a venue like THE WHITE HOUSE.
Do you really believe young people in this country are basing their future vote on whether Kid Rock performs at the Presidential Inaugural?

Perhaps. But one of the points many are trying to make is, once invited, dis-inviting him is at least as large of a mistake. Not to mention bad manners.
What should we have instead? Wayne Newton? Debbie Boone? Some stupid Christian rock band?

Hell, the Childs ballads (trad British folk music) have lyrics that for their day would have made Kid Rock seem tame by comparison.

The Odyssey has racy parts. Honest portrayals of human sexuality with all its beautiful, beastly and ugly parts is not exactly new stuff.
Sexuality is a necessary part of life, as necessary as breathing. Some people need to face the facts, deal with things as they are , grow up and get over it.
Remember that Rubber Duckie was sung by a Gay Orange Man on Sesame Street.
It beats the alternative which is a picture of KR standing the Bush twins with a caption of "I'm going to f*** some ho's after I rock this place". We don't need that.

So that makes it okay to recind an invitation to perform? Speaking of propriety, I wonder what Emily Post or Miss Manners would have to say about doing something like that.
Nothing like saying: "Thanks for your support. Now go away, since we've got the Congress and White House. You're good enough to help us get elected, but please don't hang around and dirty the place up."
