Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all. "He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND. No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time. Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance. Chalk one up for the good guys.
I'm not sure it was confirmed...But then again, it IS the prerogative of the White House to reassess the "entertainment" arrangements, isn't it?
If the Bush twins want Kid Rock to perform for them, why can't arrangements be made for their own private party?
Then Rock can rap about "keeping it real," rather than diluting his "message."
"This concert is for young people attending the inauguration. Since values voters are largely responsible for continuing Bush in office it only shows them respect to have decency at this concert. And frankly, Kid Rock does not represent the values our President holds to.
Aside from this, Kid Rock music should not be sold to young people - due to lewd lyrics. I think we are throwing the kids in our country to the trash heap by allowing such garbage in the open air - in the name of free speech. If yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre is wrong, then this should be too because it leads to more teen pregnancies and abortion.
I suspect the people here posting that Kid Rock is fine are liberals trying to skew Free Republic as a conservative bastion of true thinking.

You are incorrect, and on several counts. First, President Bush was re-elected because of a coalition of voters, not because of values voters alone. Had every one of those voters not voted for him, for whatever reason, we'd now have President Kerry in office. Not all were Christians. Not all were what you would call "moral." Some even liked Kid Rock, as did our troops when he entertained them.
Next, you propose censoring this person's music. You'll find many who disagree with you on that topic, and they voted for President Bush, too.
Finally, don't make the mistake of thinking that people who don't agree with you on every point are liberals. Do that and you'll soon find your end of the party sucking air from a dry hose.
OUCH! Your right about that! Now where did I put those earplugs?!!
This from someone who has been here just over 2 months?
I am not famous; I only start live threads; you guys do the rest of the work!
I'm pretty sure that was a sarcastic (and effective) post.
I own two of his CD's.
My comment was a one-liner at government officials.
If yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre is wrong, then this should be too because it leads to more teen pregnancies and abortion.
I am so sick of this egregious trash. What a LOAD.
Sexual activity without proper education and without proper protection is what leads to pregnancy.
SOME among us want to push neandathral attitudes towards sex education and contraception. These people
serve only themselves. They WANT to see the teen birth rate go up, so they can continue their employement as peddlers of moral outrage.
If you were really interested in keeping the teen pregnancy rate down, you'd spend your time on something productive, like accurate, medically based , factual sex education and the distribution of effective contraceprives to those who need them. And you wouldn't be wasting your time trying to present yourself as some kind of a moral
beacon when in fact you are meeting your own needs more than anything else with the #^^% that you peddle.
We will always have sexuality with us. The day we don't is the day the human race dies.
Not that the NYT's NS is all that reliable...lol.
"I believe FR is sort of a microcosm of the conservative movement and the GOP in general. "
There are more people in the middle of the road than you might think. Some just get tired of being bashed by the FR Moral Majority Bible Thumpers.
Can you direct me to a story that quotes Bush saying that?
I was under the impression that this was due to outside sources.
THAT would help to splain that remark. :)
That was the reasoning when KR was on the list. The Bushbots said that Bush obviously wanted him therefore he should play.
Now the shoe is on the other foot.
"We're capable of making these decisions for ourselves, and if anything, I think these "culture warriors" are one reason why Democrats have an edge with voters under 30. We're all too easily seen as the ones who want to remove their favorite singers and shows from the air. We're the fuddy-duddies.
"
Well, there is that. If the only people who voted for President Bush were from the Christian Right, we'd now have JFK in the White House. That seems forgotten now that Bush is in his second term. Now we get the "purity" party line from these folks and some of their true agenda appears.
Thanks to them for voting for Bush. No thanks for trying to impose a particular sectarian view of the world on everyone. If they're successful in co-opting the GOP, then we'll be back to a Democrat-controlled Congress and White House again.
So in other words, folks who like to listen to Howard Stern, Kid Rock, or other stuff are invited to leave the conservative movement? Is that what you are saying?

Pot, Kettle, I don't know????
