No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

That's exactly what I am afraid of. I've been seeing this sort of thinking all over FR since I joined, and I believe FR is sort of a microcosm of the conservative movement and the GOP in general.

I am getting really concerned about this, to be honest.

I don't remember Kid Rock make any stupid remarks during the election season (like Springsteen, Dixie Chicks, Babs, REM, etc., etc.). I say let him play. It's only rock and/or roll.

What exactly are you advocating here with these graphics from your profile page?

Why you are not a hypocrite are you?

I agree with you. Political parties aren't churches. If we act as if they are we will end up the same way many churches do as we splinter into many small powerless groups.

It looks like it already happened to the 'Rats. And it seems we'll be next.

"Social conservatives do well when they stick to LIFE issues.

They lose votes when they go to CENSORSHIP issues."

This is a "decency" issue as far as I'm concerned, Dan.

That falls under "social conservatism."

Porno "stars" and various other "Adult" entertainers have also voted for and supported George W. Bush.

It doesn't mean they are being "censored" if they aren't given a venue at the Presidential Inaugural to speak.

"and I believe FR is sort of a microcosm of the conservative movement and the GOP in general. "

But it seems we have quite a majority who see this whole thing as a farce, that KR should be allowed, and that the vice and virtue squad should not be running things.

I think we'll be allright.

"He goes against our 'moral values'??

Just curious...does Newt Gingrich (twice divorced and someone who filed papers on his first wife while she was in her sick bed) go against your moral values? What about the moral values of a vice-president with multiple DUI charges? "

That's funny, because everyone here likes to (correctly) point out Clintax's many flaws, as if no other Republican has had an extramarital affair.

For the record, my "moral values" post was 100% sarcasm. I agree with you.

Yeah...his heart's in the right place, but the boy has a mouth on him. I think it best if Bush thanks KR for his support quietly.

Decency?

And who gets to define "decent"? Gary Bauer? Brent the Bozo? Michael Powell?

Pardon me, but I don't want any of those clowns making decisions for me.

I think it is a little different when Kid is invited and then dis-invited.

If Kid had never been invited I would have just thought "Duff and Jo Jo, how lame".

"That would leave no one left at the event."

How true you are....

This is not specifically to Celtjew.....it's to everyone.

A while back - I put the first news about Kid Rock possibly performing at the Bush concert on Free Republic and I was aghast at some of the responses. Most seemed to think it no big deal.

This concert is for young people attending the inauguration. Since values voters are largely responsible for continuing Bush in office it only shows them respect to have decency at this concert. And frankly, Kid Rock does not represent the values our President holds to.

Aside from this, Kid Rock music should not be sold to young people - due to lewd lyrics. I think we are throwing the kids in our country to the trash heap by allowing such garbage in the open air - in the name of free speech. If yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre is wrong, then this should be too because it leads to more teen pregnancies and abortion.

I suspect the people here posting that Kid Rock is fine are liberals trying to skew Free Republic as a conservative bastion of true thinking.

Anyway, I want to thank everyone who took the time to email the inauguration people about Kid Rock - Realize this: Our voices do count. Take heart! :o) :o)

This man is a vulgar pig.

Vulgar? Compared to what?

A screen name which brings to mind the south half of hrc can be seen as equally vulgar.

Are you really so ignorant as to think that he doesn't have a song in his portfolio which doesn't have a "bad" word? You don't think he would have done patriotic songs? You don't think they would have done a suitable concert. What a fool!

He isn't popular for mere words-which are nothing more than a string of letters ,AND which BTW - people all of the place say everyday.

For the culture warriors - it isn't.

They seem to have no concept of changing the station or NOT buying CDs or NOT going to the concerts. They are forcing their artistis taste on the folks at that concert. I don't like that.

We're capable of making these decisions for ourselves, and if anything, I think these "culture warriors" are one reason why Democrats have an edge with voters under 30. We're all too easily seen as the ones who want to remove their favorite singers and shows from the air. We're the fuddy-duddies.

Can someone PLEASE tell Don Wildmon and others like him to butt out?
