Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all. "He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND. No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time. Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance. "I think the Bush twins voted for him!"
From any Freepers??
It doesn't mean they are being "censored" if they aren't given a venue at the Presidential Inaugural to speak.
If it's a government-sponsored event, then I agree with you -- I think some guidelines are in order. If it's a privately sponsored party, celebrating the inauguration -- not the inauguration, itself, mind you -- then I disagree. If porn stars want to gather in DC and throw a big, private party celebrating Bush's reelection, then more power to them.
Nope- those are some pornographic images if I have ever seen any. What are they representative of? SEX. What has people up in arms about Kid? SEX and "naughty words".
"I however could think of some 'better' directions in which to go, and they don't involve religious fundamentalists of ANY stripe running the show. "
Sign me up to head in that direction! No religous fundamentalism for me!
Stated nicely and I agree.
"If porn stars want to gather in DC and throw a big, private party celebrating Bush's reelection, then more power to them."
You got any extra tickets to that????
He's got lousy taste in hats.
"With that logic, that old drunk George W Bush shouldn't be wiping he dirty feet on the White House carpet.."
Don't forget his cocaine usage.
A bit tattered and torn but we are still here.
This whole thing could very well be a non-story. No one has said he was even invited in the first place, not even the WND. My guess is that they assumed he would be, because of his appearance at the convention party. As to what is appropriate at the Inauguration...it seems to me that this is the one day out of four years where the President gets to celebrate as he likes. It isn't for the WND or even us to tell him whom to invite. Personally, I think Kid Rock has no talent and his change to country western was trying to get an audience. But that's my opinion. I certainly won't tell any one who or what they should like or dislike; or whom to invite or not to invite to their celebration.
The Republican Party doesn't just belong to the self-appointed "moral majority". It also belongs to twenty-somethings, thirty-somethings, people young at heart who believe in limited government but also don't mind having a good time. All ex-communicating Kid Rock does is reinforce the image of the GOP as a bunch of old squares.
Nah, not Stryper...Switchfoot.
"What consulting adults do in the privacy of their own homes is their own business."
Not according to Rick Santorum!
Well, I hope Rush the druggie and Bennett the gambler aren't there.
Maybe you don't get out much, but there are lots of the younger generations who vote Democrat or don't vote more than anything else because of their social liberalism, fear of the false stereotypes of the GOP as moral nannies and seeking a moralistic Taliban, and political ignorance in no small part fostered by such moralistic labels and myths. Part of the GOP's recent success has been winning over these voters, by overcoming and refuting these stereotypes, only after which some of them can then start to get past all that and start to recognize the benefits of social conservative positions. But you can't explain if someone won't listen, and too often the myths the Dems have created have been sustained as a wall, because the harping and rantings of the zealous fringe have fit right into the stereotype and thus they tuned out. IMHO you and Farah are extremely counterproductive, and hurt the cause of conservatism, and especially social conservatism.
Too bad you and Free Republic weren't around 2000 years ago, the vitriole that you and Farah would have posted against Jesus speaking with the women at the well, the Good Samaritan parable, and healing on the Sabbath would have been stunning.
If we're so worried about what Kid Rock may say, maybe we should ask that Vice President Cheney not attend. He may tell someone to go f#(k themselves and we wouldn't want to be offended. Do some of you really think that Kid Rock has lower morals than some "respected" dignitaries who'll be there?
1. What is "decency"? Who defines it? As far as I'm concerned, the FCC is indecent with their censorship.
2. It doesn't mean they are being "censored" if they aren't given a venue at the Presidential Inaugural to speak.
Agreed, but the problem is that this reinforces the image of the GOP as a bunch of old rich country clubbers that want to ban fun. That hurts the GOP in some areas as much as the dems are hurt by being a bunch of aborting wimps who tax and spend us while grabbing our guns.
"and Jessica Simpson also support the President! Maybe they can fill in!"
AS long as it isn't her no-talent sister Ashlee...
Each of us is in need of some sort of moral rehab from time to time, or at least an examination and repair, if necessary, of our behaviors. Looks like the issue has been settled. Perhaps it's for the best. But Kid Rock at the Inauguration is clearly not the same as, say, inviting Roseanne to sing the National Anthem. Kid Rock loves the President and the country.
