Should The F-22 be cancelled?

Yes. This type of aircraft has no place in the modern battlefield and Foreseeable conflicts. The money could be put into more usefull sistems (each unit cost about $235 million for 239 planes) Whats your opinion?

Its been in development for decades, the Russian have been investing heavily in anti stealth missile as well as other nations.

If you had any idea of what you are talking about, you would know that anti stealth missiles are a wet dream. Stealth technology can be defeated with low frequency radar. Low frequency radar requires a large antenna. The anti stealth missile would have to be many yards in diameter.

I suggest that you go back to your Area 51 web sites.

Post # 161 - " but i wanted to know if the money could be better spent on other weapons."

You changed your story.

" The Navy will keep the F-18 "

The first military equipment sent to a war zone are the aircraft carriers, with the aging f18 (this is a vairant on the f15???) how could they protect an aircraft carrier against russian made su44 su27,30 and so on.

Are these Russian planes not better than the f15-f18???

The US only plans on competing against them with only one plane f22?? Hard to believe.

War with China is a foreseeable conflict. War with France is a foreseeable conflict. War with Iran is a forseeable conflict. War with Mexico is a forseeable conflict. War with the Blue States is foreseeable.

All of the foreseeable conflicts listed will require air dominance for infantry forces to kill as many ragheads, chinks, specs, frogs, and idiots as possible.

It sucks to be a communist lackey.... They keep losing face.

Once upon a time, China was a great power to be reckoned with... And then they listened to a near-sighted wuss named Mao....

I challenge China to regain her glory that defeated Britain and arise as a pragmatic, capitalist, society.

I just finished watching Greta on Fox. They took her for a ride in an F-16 and gave us all a great show on the F-22. It is awesome!

BTW, they have more than 10 produced and flying and the cost has dropped to 110-115 milion per.

Here is an interesting link...

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the F-4 and the F-104 were both used by the Navy and the Air Force.

It was an opinion. I based it in a belief that air dominance can be more cost effective. The point of having a discussion is to arrive to the truth, but many people are being unhelpful.

I don't know anything about the F-22 (other than what I've read on this thread) but did see an in depth special when two companies were competing to design the JSF.

What is the purpose of each? How do they compliment one another?

Hmmm... "Christian zealot" (how many Christians call themselves zealot, a perjorative term?) shows up on third day calling for the Kerry position of killing the F-22. Something here smells funny.

Trouble is,

the puppet masters seem to have them very, very firmly under their stern control . . .

and to be hell bent on using them to establish the world government.

Enjoy your tidy little world . . . your paradigms are due for some major shifts in the not too distant future.

Overview
The Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program, formerly the Joint Advanced Strike Technology (JAST) Program, is the Department of Defense's focal point for defining affordable next generation strike aircraft weapon systems for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and our allies. The focus of the program is affordability -- reducing the development cost, production cost, and cost of ownership of the JSF family of aircraft. Prior to the start of System Design and Development (SDD) in Fall 2001, the program facilitated the Services' development of fully
validated, affordable operational requirements, and it lowered risk by investing in and demonstrating key leveraging technologies and operational concepts. Upon SDD contract award to Lockheed Martin on 26 October 2001, the program embarked on full development of three affordable and effective JSF variants.

The JSF will fulfill stated Service needs as follows:

U. S. Navy First day of war, survivable strike fighter aircraft to complement F/A-18E/F
U.S. Air Force Multirole aircraft (primary-air-to-ground) to replace the F-16 and A-10 and complement the F-22A
U.S. Marine Corps STOVL aircraft to replace the AV-8B and F/A-18 as their only strike fighter
United Kingdom Royal Navy & Royal Air Force STOVL aircraft to replace Sea Harriers & GR.7s as a supersonic strike fighter
Other Countries Potential JSF customers include current operators of F-16, F/A-18, and AV-8B

can air dominance be won in a more cost effective way? I believe so.

We have heard your mantra, now give specifics. If you don't have an alternative (specific), you don't have a point.

Air superiority is the most critical factor in war, now and in the future. I hope they fully fund the F-22 and that they're already working on its successor.
